Abstract: A long-life discharge tube, which may be miniaturized and still hold-off high voltages and which may be operated in conditions which may include high pressure gas atmospheres and high temperatures surrounding the tube, including gas impervious ceramic and metal wall components over all exterior portions of the tube and a generally cup-shape anode electrode separted from an annular triggered cathode which is positioned at least partially within the walls of the anode.
