Abstract: A method (6) for inspecting an ophthalmic lens (2), in particular a contact lens such as a soft contact lens (2), in an automated lens manufacturing process is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of acquiring (60) a plurality of images containing the ophthalmic lens (2) to be inspected as an imaged ophthalmic lens (2), wherein each image (4) of the plurality of images is of a different image type, registering (63) the plurality of images by applying a registration function to each image (4) of the plurality of images to obtain registered images, determining (64), based on the registered images, whether the ophthalmic lens (2) complies with predetermined specifications, and updating (62) the registration function to compensate for possible changes in the acquisition of the plurality of images. Updating (62) the registration function is performed during the automated lens manufacturing process.

Abstract: An inspection cuvette for the optical inspection of an ophthalmic lens comprises a hollow cuvette body defining a cavity for receiving the ophthalmic lens and an inspection liquid, a transparent bottom having a concave upper surface delimiting the cavity at a bottom end thereof, a handling channel having an inner circumferential channel wall and a longitudinal channel axis. The handling channel further has an access opening at a proximal end thereof and is connected to the cavity at a distal end thereof. The inspection cuvette further comprises and an inspection window comprising a flat lower surface delimiting the cavity at an upper end thereof and facing towards the concave upper surface of the transparent bottom. At least that portion of the inner circumferential channel wall which is arranged above the flat lower surface of the inspection window when the cuvette is arranged in an inspection position is round.

Abstract: In a method of handling an ophthalmic lens contained in an inspection cuvette and immersed in an inspection liquid the lens is arranged at an actual position relative to a concave inner surface of a bottom glass of the inspection cuvette;
The method comprises the steps of: positioning the inspection cuvette in a handling position without pivoting the inspection cuvette; through the viewing glass obtaining an image of the lens; from the obtained image determining a deviation of the actual position of the lens from a set transfer position; comparing the deviation with a predetermined maximum deviation; determining that the lens is arranged at a proper transfer position when the deviation is less than the maximum deviation, in case of the proper transfer position, transferring the lens from the inspection cuvette to the primary packaging container.
