Abstract:
A vestibular implant system is described which includes an implantable vestibular stimulator providing a vestibular stimulation signal to electrically stimulate target neural tissue for vestibular sensation by a patient. A patient warning alarm process alters the stimulation signal when a given alarm condition occurs to change the vestibular sensation of the patient thereby warning the patient of the alarm condition.
Abstract:
An apparatus for aerating water with fine bubbles is provided. At least one strip-like, inextensible aerating element is provided that has an air supply channel and there above a portion that is provided with slits which elastically widen under the effect of a supply of air. At least one holding element is secured to the base of a water reservoir that is to be aerated, wherein the aerating element is longitudinally displaceably held by the holding element such that with the reservoir filled, a pulling action on one end of the aerating element results in withdrawal thereof from the holding element.
Abstract:
A plate-like water aerator is provided. A plate, made of elastomeric material, is disposed on a rigid, essentially planar mounting support and covers the one or more air supply connections thereof. The plate is provided with fine slits for the discharge of air. The mounting support has a circumferential rim that is angled-off at substantially right angles. The mounting support also has a circumferential rib that extends parallel to the rim in such a way as to form a circumferential groove between the rib and the rim. The plate has an essentially u-shaped rim portion, a radially inwardly disposed leg of which surrounds the rim of the mounting support and engages in the circumferential groove in a manner free of play.
Abstract:
A vestibular implant fitting system and method are described for fitting a vestibular implant to the implanted patient. A body response characteristic of the patient to a vestibular implant stimulus signal is determined during a response measurement period. Then an operating characteristic of the vestibular implant system is set based on the body response characteristic.
Abstract:
A partially implantable vestibular prosthesis system is described which includes an external movement sensor that is attachable to the outer skin surface of a patient's head for generating an external movement signal which represents movement of the patient's head. An external transmitter is in communication with the external movement sensor and provides an electromagnetic transmission of an implant communication signal which includes a signal component based on the external movement signal and an electrical power component that provides electrical power for implanted system components. An internal movement sensor is implantable under the skin of the patient's head for generating an internal movement signal which represents movement of the patient's head. And an implant processor also is implantable under the skin and in communication with the internal movement sensor and the external transmitter for generating an implant stimulation signal based on one of the movement signals to electrically stimulate target neural tissue for vestibular sensation by the patient.
Abstract:
An apparatus for securing an aerating device, for aerating water with fine bubbles, to an air supply conduit is provided. The aerating device is detachably connected to a mounting that is secured to an air supply conduit. The mounting is provided with an undercut groove into which engages the projection of the aerating device in the manner of a dovetail connection, thereby providing a horizontal insertion movement of the aerating device.
