Abstract: A display may have a stretchable portion with hermetically sealed rigid pixel islands. A flexible interconnect region may be interposed between the hermetically sealed rigid pixel islands. The hermetically sealed rigid pixel islands may include organic light-emitting diode (OLED) pixels. A conductive cutting structure may have an undercut that causes a discontinuity in a conductive OLED layer to mitigate lateral leakage. The conductive cutting structure may also be electrically connected to a cathode for the OLED pixels and provide a cathode voltage to the cathode. First and second inorganic passivation layers may be formed over the OLED pixels. Multiple discrete portions of an organic inkjet printed layer may be interposed between the first and second inorganic passivation layers.

Abstract: An electronic device may have a display with touch sensors. One or more shielding layers may be interposed between the display and the touch sensors. The display may include transistors with gate conductors, a first planarization layer formed over the gate conductors, one or more contacts formed in a first source-drain layer within the first planarization layer, a second planarization layer formed on the first planarization layer, one or more data lines formed in a second source-drain layer within the second planarization layer, a third planarization layer formed on the second planarization layer, and a data line shielding structure formed at least partly in a third source-drain layer within the third planarization layer. The data line shielding structure may be a routing line, a blanket layer, a mesh layer formed in one or more metal layers, and/or a data line covering another data line.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a stack, and the stack includes a substrate, and a multi-layer structure deposited on the substrate and including a set of TFTs. Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels that forms an active display area for displaying images. An inactive border area of the display may have contact pads to which integrated circuits and flexible printed circuits may be attached. The contact pads may be free of organic planarization layers and may be formed from multiple stacked conductive layers. The inactive portion of the display may include electrostatic discharge protection structures associated with the pads, metal layers that form signal paths extending between the pads and the pixels, interlayer dielectric layers for protecting the metal layers that form the signal paths, polysilicon footer structures that help prevent undercutting of gate insulator material in the vicinity of the pads, and other pad and signal line structures.

Abstract: A display may include an array of pixels. Each pixel in the array includes an organic light-emitting diode coupled to associated semiconducting oxide transistors. The semiconducting oxide transistors may exhibit different device characteristics. Some of the semiconducting oxide transistors may be formed using a first oxide layer formed from a first semiconducting oxide material using first processing steps, whereas other semiconducting oxide transistors are formed using a second oxide layer formed from a second semiconducting oxide material using second processing steps different than the first processing steps. The display may include three or more different semiconducting oxide layers formed during different processing steps.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a display with pixels formed using light-emitting diodes, thin-film silicon transistors, thin-film semiconducting-oxide transistors, and capacitors. The silicon transistors, semiconducting-transistors, and capacitors may have control terminals that are coupled to gate or routing lines that extend across the face of the display and that are formed in a low resistance source-drain metal routing layer. Forming routing/gate lines using the low resistance source-drain metal routing layer dramatically reduces the resistance of the gate lines, which enables better timing margins for large display panels operating at higher refresh rates.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a display having display pixels formed in an active area of the display. The display further includes display driver circuitry for driving gate lines that are routed across the display. A hole such as a through hole, optical window, or other inactive region may be formed within the active area of the display. Multiple gate lines carrying the same signal may be merged together prior to being routed around the hole to help minimize the routing line congestion around the border of the hole. Dummy circuits may be coupled to the merged segment portion to help increase the parasitic loading on the merged segments. The hole may have a tapered shape to help maximize the size of the active area. The hole may have an asymmetric shape to accommodate multiple sub-display sensor components.
