Abstract:
A process for preparing an aqueous polymer dispersion, the process including forming a copolymer A from at least one α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated C3 to C6 monocarboxylic acid (monomers A1) and at least one other monoethylenically unsaturated compound (monomers A2); reacting the copolymer A with a metal compound M in an aqueous medium; and conducting free-radical polymerization of at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound (monomer P) in the presence of the copolymer A in an aqueous medium.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a process for preparing an aqueous polymer latex by polymerising a monomer composition M by a radical emulsion polymerisation, where at least 95% of the monomer composition M is metered during a period P to the polymerisation reaction under polymerisation conditions, such that during at least one period P(n) within the period P, the relative amount of monomers M2, which are metered to the polymerisation reaction during the periods P(n), to the total amount of the monomer composition M, which is metered to the polymerisation reaction during said period P(n), is at least 1% by weight higher than the relative amount of monomers M2, which are metered to the polymerisation reaction outside of each of said periods P(n), to the total amount of the monomer composition M, which is metered to the polymerisation reaction outside of each of said periods P(n).
Abstract:
A process for producing aqueous polymer dispersions and the use thereof as binder for coatings having high solvent stability and a low tendency to soiling.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a coating composition comprising: (a) 10% to 99.9% by weight of resin based on the total weight of the coating composition; and (b) 0.1% to 20% by weight of a formaldehyde scavenger based on the total weight of the coating composition, wherein the formaldehyde scavenger has at least one active methylene hydrogen and is solid at room temperature. The invention relates to use of a coating composition for removing free formaldehyde from the environment, wherein the formaldehyde scavenger has at least one active methylene hydrogen and is solid at room temperature.
Abstract:
The use of a nondendrimeric hyperbranched polyester and/or a polyesteramide which comprise alkenyl-substituted succinic acid units as a demulsifier for splitting oil-water emulsions. The succinic acid is substituted by at least one alkenyl group containing from 16 to 20 carbon atoms. Particular emulsions suitable for splitting are crude oil emulsions. Also, a nondendrimeric hyperbranched polyester or a polyesteramide which comprises alkenyl-substituted succinic acid units, the alkenyl group having from 16 to 20 carbon atoms. In addition to the alkenyl-substituted succinic acid units, the nondendrimeric hyperbranched polyester contains, as further units, at least trifunctional alcohols having been alkoxylated with an average of from 3 to 12 ethylene oxide units.

The use of nondendrimeric hyperbranched polyesters and/or polyesteramides which comprise alkyl- and/or alkenyl-substituted succinic acid units as demulsifiers for splitting oil-water emulsions, especially crude oil emulsions, and also nondendrimeric hyperbranched polyesters or polyesteramides which comprise alkyl- and/or alkenyl-substituted succinic acid units.
