Abstract: This invention, in embodiments, relates to a roofing material having a top edge, a bottom edge that is opposite to the top edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge that is opposite to the first side edge. The roofing material further includes (i) at least one water channel that extends along the first side edge, from the top edge to the bottom edge of the roofing material, and (ii) at least one attachment tab that is disposed on the first side edge. This invention further relates to a roofing system that includes such a roofing material and a method of installing thereof.

Abstract: A steep slope roofing panel system includes an underlayment and a plurality of roofing panels installed atop the underlayment. The panels may be installed to provide both protection from the environment and watershedding. Alternatively, the panels and the underlayment may share the watershedding functions of the roof, with one as a primary watershedding component and the other as an auxiliary watershedding component. The roofing system may be custom manufactured off-site based upon predetermined measurements and characteristics of a roof and its protrusions. Alternatively, the roofing system may be custom manufactured at the job site based upon such measurements and characteristics. Each panel may be assigned to a location on the roof and may include imprinted instructions regarding cutting and/or bending the panel to form flashing, drip edges, or other features, as well as the panel's location and installation sequence on the roof.

Abstract: Panels with substantially integrated watershedding features may be installed on the roof a house or other structure in lieu of traditional roofing materials. The panels include a body formed from a mixture of filler materials and polymeric binder materials, which can include recycled materials, with watershedding features generally formed with and/or integrated with the panels. The panels also can be installed in overlapping courses along a roof with the watershedding features incorporated along one or more peripheral edges. The watershedding features of adjacent panels further can cooperated to collect and divert water away from the upper surfaces and/or away headlap and/or sidelap joints defined between the panels.

Abstract: A method includes obtaining a roofing membrane. A first layer of the roofing membrane is applied along a length of a roofing substrate covering a first portion of the roofing substrate. At least a first edge of the first layer is fastened to the roofing substrate. A second layer of the roofing membrane is applied over the first layer along the length of the roofing substrate such that a first edge of the second layer overlies the second edge of the first layer. The first edge of the second layer and the second edge of the first layer are fastened to the roofing substrate using a second fastener in a fastening zone along the length the roofing substrate. The second layer is reoriented such that the second layer overlies the fastening zone and covers a second portion of the roofing substrate adjacent the first portion of the roofing substrate.

Abstract: A roofing system has metal shingles that have formed side lap features that are configured to facilitate alignment of adjacent side lapped metal shingles of a shingle installation along a roofing structure and that couple the metal shingles together and form seals along their side lapped peripheral edges. The metal shingles also can have alignment features that cooperate to align shingles in one course with shingles in a next lower course within their headlap regions.
