Abstract: A system for recording vehicle occupants and their immediate environment includes a driver-facing camera for capturing video data, an input that receives data from one or more sensors configured to detect vehicle related data and a processor. The processor is configured to embed, based on the sensor data, at least one indicator in a portion of the video data. The indicator designates that the portion of the video data is to be obscured during playback of the video data.

Abstract: A system and method for assembling and using a map for supporting advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on a host vehicle are disclosed. The map indicates which roadway segments can support automated driving. The map may also indicate which vehicle sensor signal interpretation and vehicle control algorithms shall be used on those segments. The map may be assembled on a host vehicle, transmitted to a server and collated with maps from other vehicles equipped with ADAS. The host vehicle may download the other maps from the server for use in locations where the driver assistance sensor input from the host vehicle may not be dependable.

Abstract: A driving oriented digital video recorder (DVR) system may comprise a camera; a memory; and a control circuit. The occurrence of a predefined driving event type may be determined based on received data. An event object that includes details of the determined event may be generated, including the type of the determined event and a time association with a segment of captured driving video. Metadata tags may be generated, which contain the type of the determined event and the location of the event object in the memory of the DVR. The DVR may retrieve segments of the driving video by identifying the metadata tag as having the same event type as a query parameter and, in turn, identify the event object using the location of the event object included in the metadata tag. The driving video segment may then be located via the association with the event object.

Abstract: A system and method is described in which vehicles are configured to collect driver and vehicle event data, selectively compress and encode the collected driver and vehicle event data, and communicate the compressed and encoded data wirelessly to one or more telematics service providers. Servers poll this driver event data periodically, process it, and present multiple methods to end users by which they are able to view and analyze it. The present system permits fleet managers to use this driver event data, received through a report or notification, or pulled directly from a web-based portal, to monitor, correct or reward driver behavior, and to implement driver education and training programs.

Abstract: When employing a multi-node computing architecture for commercial articulated vehicles to generate a composite surround view of the vehicle, each processing node is associated with a vehicle segment. Each node has its own processor, memory and sensors. A master-slave relationship exists in the architecture. The segment processors collect, format, manage and package their local information. Communication between nodes is controlled by the master node, which can limit, adjust, subsample and alter the information and information flow from the slave nodes. The slave nodes can be freely recombined, using a pre-established communication standard or a format agreed upon at combination time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating an image of the surroundings of an articulated vehicle are provided. According to an aspect of the invention, a processor determines a relative position between a first vehicle of an articulated vehicle and a second vehicle of the articulated vehicle; receives a first image from a first camera arranged on the first vehicle and a second image from a second camera arranged on the second vehicle; and combines the first image and the second image based on the relative position between the first vehicle and the second vehicle to generate a combined image of surroundings of the articulated vehicle.
