Abstract: Carboxylic acid salts of polyamides having at least one amino group and hydrocarbon fuel compositions containing same. The salts are formed by neutralizing with a carboxylic acid at least 10% of the amino groups of a polyamide containing from about 2 to about 6 amide groups and at least one amino group. Hydrocarbon fuel compositions containing these salts exhibit desirable properties such as enhanced carburetor detergency and carburetor anti-icing characteristics, improved water tolerance, improved anti-corrosion properties, and cleaner engine operation.
