Abstract: Disclosed herein are various cable gel seal arrangements and thermoplastic gels useful therein. The thermoplastic gels are prepared from a composition including a styrene triblock copolymer, a styrene diblock copolymer, an oil extender, and an additive selected from poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide), a C9 resin, poly(alpha-methylstyrene), a coumarone-indene resin, and combinations thereof, wherein the additive has a Tg from about 95° C. to about 200° C. The thermoplastic gels advantageously exhibit low compression set.

Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a cable sealing structure comprising a cable sealing body including a gel and methods of making anisotropic behavior in cable sealing structures made with a dry silicone gel. In one aspect, various three-dimensional printing techniques are used to make a cable sealing structure that includes a gel. The cable sealing body has a construction that elastically deforms to apply an elastic spring load to the gel. The cable sealing body has a construction with anisotropic deformation characteristics that allows the cable sealing body to be less deformable in one direction than in others. The cable sealing structure can be utilized to seal fiber optic cables more uniformly while limiting the potential of leakage.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to connector ports with shutters configured to inhibit dust intrusion by including peripheral regions that oppose undercut portions of the connector port when the shutter is closed. The present disclosure also relates to a fiber optic connector including a plurality of stacked fiber carrier modules. The present disclosure also relates to a fiber optic connector including a connector body and a rear connector piece that is secured to the connector body by a snap-fit connection. The rear connector piece can be configured for attachment to a fiber optic cable. The rear connector piece can be secured to the connector body by a snap-fit connection. The rear connector piece can have a snap-fit interface compatible with a number of different styles or types of connector bodies to promote manufacturing efficiency.
