Abstract:
A process for interconnecting a postage meter and apparatus for operating the postage meter; wherein the postage meter includes a lever which is positionable in a plurality of postage value selecting positions, and the apparatus includes a member for positioning the postage meter lever. The process comprises the steps of fixing the spatial relationship between the postage meter and meter operating apparatus, and then fixing the spatial relationship between the postage meter lever and lever positioning member.
Abstract:
An improvement in an actuator adapted to be removably mounted in an operating relationship with respect to a postage meter having a postage value selecting lever positionable in a plurality of positions, one of the positions being a home position. The actuator includes a base having an aperture formed therein through which the postage meter lever extends when the actuator is mounted in the operating relationship with respect to the postage meter. The actuator also includes apparatus for positioning the postage meter lever in the home position for removing the actuator. In addition, the actuator includes means for securing the postage meter lever against inadvertent movement, in particular when an attempt is made to remove the actuator out of the operating relationship with respect to the postage meter prior to returning the postage meter lever to the home position.
Abstract:
In a machine for processing a mailpiece, wherein the machine includes an elongate horizontally-extending deck, the machine includes structure for feeding a mailpiece in a downstream path of travel on the deck, the machine includes an upright mailpiece registration wall extending downstream alongside of the deck, and the machine includes a stripper blade horizontally aligned with the deck for operational engagement with a mailpiece fed thereto, an improvement for guiding a mailpiece out of operational engagement with the stripper blade, the improvement including: the deck including a horizontally-extending upstream portion; and an elongate mailpiece guide wall extending laterally from the registration wall and overhanging the upstream portion of the deck; the guide wall having an upstream edge and a downstream edge, the guide wall inclined downwardly from the upstream to the downstream edge thereof and forming an angle of substantially ten to twenty five degrees with respect to the upstream portion off the deck, and the downstream edge of the guide wall overhanging the stripper blade.
Abstract:
A process for connecting a switch to a printed circuit board comprising the steps of, providing a printed circuit board having at least one aperture formed therein, providing a switch including a housing having at least one electrical terminal extending therefrom, providing a fastener made of a molded plastic material capable of withstanding a soldering environment, mounting the switch on the board such that the at least one terminal thereof extends through the at least one board aperture, connecting the switch to the board by means of a fastener and wave-soldering the at least one terminal to the printed circuit board after the connecting step.
Abstract:
For interconnecting a postage meter and an actuator apparatus for operating the postage meter, wherein the postage meter includes a lever which is positionable in a plurality of postage value selecting positions, and the actuator includes a member for positioning the postage meter lever; there is provided a gauge for adjusting the spatial relationship between the postage meter and actuator, and a lever extension device for fixing the spatial relationship between the postage meter lever and lever positioning member.
