Abstract: Disclosed herein is cellulose acetate that has excellent heat stability under wet conditions and is capable of reducing the occurrence of end-breakage in a spinning process.Cellulose acetate satisfying the following formula (1): [Mg/H2SO4]>0,[Ca/H2SO4]>0, and 2.70−[Mg/H2SO4])/1.62≤[Ca/H2SO4]≤(37.7−[Mg/H2SO4])/10.3 (1), where the formula (1) represents a relationship between a chemical equivalent ratio of calcium content to residual sulfuric acid content [Ca/H2SO4] and a chemical equivalent ratio of magnesium content to residual sulfuric acid content [Mg/H2SO4].

Abstract: An object is to mitigate clogging of spinneret holes which occurs as the passage of spinning time even though cellulose acetate has a small titanium oxide content or contains no titanium oxide and to prevent a reduction in pressure drop of a cellulose acetate band. A cellulose acetate fiber, in which a titanium oxide content is not greater than 0.05 wt. %, a calcium content is not greater than 20 ppm, and a magnesium content is not less than 30 ppm.
