Abstract: An improved rupture disc pressure relief arrangement for use with a high pressure vessel is described comprising a rupture disc having one surface thereof exposed to the internal high pressure of the vessel and means for establishing a variable pressure at a second surface of the disc. A disc which ruptures at a predetermined differential pressure can be employed over a relatively large range of operating pressures by varying the pressure at the second surface when changes in the operating pressure are made. The need for replacement of the rupture disc with changes in the operating pressure of the vessel is thereby avoided.
