    Abstract: A room temperature curable composition is disclosed. The composition can be used as an encapsulation/potting material. The composition comprises: (i) at least one condensation curable silyl terminated polymer having at least one silicon bonded hydroxyl functional group per molecule; (ii) a cross-linker having at least two hydrolysable groups and selected from certain silanes and/or silyl functional molecules; and (iii) a condensation catalyst selected from the group of titanates and/or zirconates. The molar ratio of the sum of moisture present in the composition and total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups: the catalyst (“the molar ratio”) is >7:1. When the molar ratio is from >7:1 to 10:1, the molar ratio of total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups:total hydrolysable groups is between 0.1:1 to 0.3:1. When the molar ratio is >10:1, the molar ratio of total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups:total hydrolysable groups is between 0.1:1 to 0.5:1.

    Abstract: A two part moisture curing composition, exhibiting low thermal conductivity, has a part A) and a part B). Part A) comprises either: 1) a siloxane polymer (I) having at least two terminal hydroxyl or hydrolysable groups and a viscosity of from 20,000 to 40,000 mPa·s at 25° C.; or 2) a polymer mixture (II) of polymer (i) a siloxane polymer having at least two terminal hydroxyl or hydrolysable groups and a viscosity ≥25,000 mPa·s at 25° C., and polymer (ii) a siloxane polymer having at least two terminal hydroxyl or hydrolysable groups and a viscosity of between 1,000 and 20,000 mPa·s at 25° C. Part A) further comprises a reinforcing filler and a low-density filler, the total filler content being between 30 and 45% in volume of the total composition. Part B) comprises a moisture curing agent formulation comprising a tin based catalyst and one or more crosslinkers.

    Abstract: Aqueous silicone emulsion compositions which cure utilising titanium-based reaction products as catalysts, and a process to prepare the same and their uses, are provided. The composition comprises (a) a titanium-based reaction product; (b) one or more silicon containing compounds having at least 2 or at least 3 hydroxyl and/or hydrolysable groups per molecule; (c) one or more surfactants; and (d) water. The titanium-based reaction product (a) is obtained or obtainable from a process comprising the steps of: (i) mixing a first ingredient, an alkoxy titanium compound having from 2 to 4 alkoxy groups with a second ingredient, a linear or branched polydiorganosiloxane having at least two terminal silanol groups per molecule and a viscosity of from 30 to 300,000 mPa·s at 25° C.; (ii) enabling the first and second ingredients to react together by stirring under vacuum to form a reaction product; and (iii) collecting the reaction product of step (ii).

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a titanium-based reaction product is provided. The titanium-based reaction product comprises the reaction product of an alkoxy titanium compound and a silanol terminated polydiorganosiloxane. The polydiorganosiloxane typically has at least two silanol groups per molecule. The titanium-based reaction product is also described, as is its use as a catalyst, having improved stability in the presence of water, for condensation curable silicone compositions. The titanium-based reaction product may additionally at least partially replace the need for a separate polymer to be used in the condensation curable silicone compositions.
