    Abstract: Half cells comprised of a lithium aluminum alloy anode and a lithium hexafluorophosphate-inert nonaqueous solvent electrolyte; and voltaic cells utilizing such half cells with compatible cathodes, particularly elemental sulfur and reversibly reducible iron, nickel and copper compounds having a solubility in the electrolyte solvent at 25* C. of less than 200 p.p.m. by weight, such voltaic cells being useful as primary and/or secondary batteries.
