Abstract:
A fitted accessory comprises two antennas incorporated within the fitted accessory. The fitted accessory also comprises an electrical contact coupling to a corresponding electrical contact disposed on the housing so that an electrical connection is established between the components of the fitted accessory and components in the housing. The fitted accessory couples to the housing.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for a truly passive trigger in a hands-free device, e.g. an RFID system. Specifically, the present invention includes a passive trigger antenna, an RFID reader system, and an associated passive triggering method. The passive trigger antenna may include any type of antenna solely for the purpose of reverse power detection, i.e. the passive trigger antenna is another antenna associated with the RFID reader system solely for detecting near field obstructions. The present invention utilizes detected near field obstructions as a passive trigger thereby eliminating manual activation of the system. In an exemplary embodiment, the present invention provides a passive trigger for a hands-free RFID system, such as a wearable RFID device. Advantageously, the passive trigger overcomes a requirement for a user to manually trigger a button or other activation mechanism for RFID reading thereby making the RFID system truly passive and hands-free.
Abstract:
A handheld radio frequency identification (RFID) reader includes a polarization insensitive antenna that enables simultaneous operation in two orthogonal polarization modes. The RFID reader includes an RF communication module and an antenna coupled to the RF communication module. The RF communication module is configured to process RF signals associated with operation of the RFID reader, and the antenna is configured to transmit and receive RF energy associated with operation of the RFID reader. The antenna includes a conductive loop element having a major longitudinal path, and a slot formed in the conductive loop element along the major longitudinal path. The conductive loop element is configured to operate as a first antenna polarized in a first orientation, and the slot is configured to operate as a second antenna polarized in a second orientation.
Abstract:
A headset comprises an audio output device, an audio input device, and a wire. The audio output device plays outgoing audio data. The audio input device receives incoming audio data. The wire connects the audio input device to a sound device that interprets the incoming audio data. The wire is further configured to be an antenna to one of transmit and receive radio frequency signals. The wire is further connected to a transceiver.
Abstract:
A mobile device includes a function module and a triggering arrangement generating a signal to activate the function module in response to detecting a triggering condition. The triggering condition is at least one of a change in an orientation of the device and a time relative to a previous activation of the function module.
