Abstract:
In a machine for reducing the cross-section of a number of wires by drawing each of them through a respective series of dies of decreasing diameter, a corresponding series of individual capstans is used for drawing each wire through its series of dies, and each one of several drive shafts supports at spaced positions along its length the capstans of a respective drawing stage of each series. Each capstan is driven by the shaft on which it is mounted, and the drive mechanism for the shafts can be adjusted, by presetting or otherwise, to give different peripheral speed ratios to the capstans, to suit different die sets and/or to compensate for wear. The capstans are mounted between bearings supporting the shafts, and the drive mechanism is located outside the bearing at the relevant end of the shaft. Preferably mechanism coupling adjacent shafts alternates between the two ends of the machine.
Abstract:
A wire-drawing machine, suitable for use in-line with an enamelling machine, comprises a plurality of individual wire-drawing capstans mounted in individual bearings, at least one for each capstan. The capstans are arranged in a substantially planar rectangular array (comprising rows and columns of the capstans) with their axes aligned with the rows thereof. A series of parallel drive shafts, each serve all the capstans of one row or one column of the array. The capstans of one column are associated with a single wire line whereas the capstans of any one row are associated with a corresponding drawing stage for all the wires lines.
Abstract:
A magnetic plate retention system especially suitable for use in retaining a lithographic plate material to a conventional plate cylinder utilizes one or more magnetic retention devices each having a curved surface complementary to the cylinder. When disposed on the plate, the retention devices magnetically adhere the plate to the underlying cylinder.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tight space wrench device comprised of a wrench member attached to at least one chain with at least one loop that functions as a handle. The wrench member may have any wrench head known in the art that can be positioned on a fastener. The chain can then be positioned in any area away from the fastener wherein a user can comfortably grip the loop without the risk of injury to their hand. Then, a user can pull the chain to rotate the wrench head clockwise or counterclockwise.
Abstract:
An apparatus, kit and method are provided for a turkey call having an outer ring attached to a pot of a turkey call device such that an internal sounding board in the pot is free to vibrate and undampened by a user's grasp when a user scrapes the surface of the striking plate of the turkey call. The outer ring is attached to the pot by a connecting means. The striking plate is surrounded by the pot, which encloses the internal sounding board. The internal sounding board is mounted to the pot. The connecting means attaches the pot to the outer ring at a minimum number of points to leave the internal sounding board free to vibrate when the striker is used to scrape the surface of the striking plate of the turkey call.
Abstract:
A sheet material holding device for receipt in a ring binder includes an elongated rectangular-shaped insert with a plurality of aligned apertures along one side. Each of the aligned apertures are positioned for registration with one of the rings of the binder. In each end of the insert is at least one slot wherein the slots are aligned to receive an endless elastomeric cord, or the like therein. A sheet of music or other sheet materials may be passed underneath the elastomeric cord and will be retained in place by the pressure of the elastomeric cord.
Abstract:
A floating cradle assembly for an arm support system is provided with a yoke having cam surfaces and crank-controlled followers arranged to ride along the cam surfaces as the cradle moves vertically with respect to the yoke. As a result, the user of the arm support system experiences as uniform upward biasing force, and the yoke will not bind within the cradle housing. Different cam surface configurations will also result in different magnitudes of the uniform upward biasing force to accommodate the user's comfort.
