Abstract: A heater coupon is disclosed having a ceramic block with a first surface and a second surface, at least one heater trace formed within the ceramic block and a connector for electrically connecting the at least one heater trace to a PCB (printed circuit board). The connector may connect at one end to the heater coupon and at the other end to the PCB. The connector may provide a direct connection between the heater coupon and the PCB. The connector may include a first connecting arm for connecting with respect to the first surface of the ceramic block and a second connecting arm for connecting with respect to the second surface of the ceramic block.

Abstract: Provided is a heater assembly for a hand-held appliance. The assembly includes a ceramic heater substrate having a heated region that includes heater elements for converting electrical energy to heat, and an unheated region adjacent to the heated region. The assembly includes a heat sink for dissipating heat from the heater elements, where the heat sink extends from the heated region of the ceramic heater substrate. The assembly includes electronic control devices for controlling electrical energy supply to the heater elements, and which are mounted at the unheated region of the ceramic heater device. The assembly includes heat dissipation means to dissipate heat from the heater elements to maintain the unheated region at a lower temperature than the heated region.
