Abstract:
Communications systems and/or methods are disclosed that may be used to convey information by forming, and then using, a plurality of frequency agile baseband waveforms, wherein any two different waveforms of the plurality of frequency agile baseband waveforms comprise an orthogonality therebetween. The systems/methods disclosed can convey information by mapping an information sequence into a baseband waveform sequence that includes waveforms of the plurality of baseband waveforms, and by transmitting the baseband waveform sequence. Such systems and/or methods can provide extreme privacy, cognitive radio capability, robustness to fading and interference, communications performance associated with M-ary orthonormal signaling and/or high multiple-access capacity.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and/or mobile devices are provided that enable a level of privacy/security in wireless communications to be increased responsive to a content of the wireless communications, biometric data and/or a position from which the wireless communications takes place. A plurality of communications modes is used by the system infrastructure and the plurality of mobile devices communicating therewith to increase privacy and undetectability of transmitted signals. The increased level of privacy and undetectability of signals is provided via pseudo-randomly generated signaling alphabets that are used by the mobile devices and by the system infrastructure to provide the communications. This represents a level of encryption/scrambling that is over and above the conventional encryption and/or scrambling at the bit level. Accordingly, systems, methods and/or devices providing a concatenated level of encryption/scrambling are provided.
Abstract:
A spectral content of a baseband waveform is varied and a measure of the baseband waveform whose spectral content has been varied is used by a transmitter in order to convey information. According to embodiments of inventive concepts, a set of frequencies that is used to provide spectral content to the baseband waveform is varied. In some embodiments, the spectral content comprises non-contiguous first and second frequency intervals wherein a third frequency interval that is between the first and second frequency intervals remains substantially devoid of providing spectral content in order to reduce or avoid interference. In other embodiments, the spectral content that is varied comprises a bandwidth that is varied. The inventive concepts are relevant to 4G LTE carrier aggregation systems/methods and/or other aspects of 4G LTE. Various transmitter/receiver embodiments are disclosed including direct synthesis transmitter/receiver embodiments.
Abstract:
Embodiments are provided wherein a bandwidth of a waveform sequence that is transmitted by a transmitter in order to convey information is varied. According to additional embodiments, a set of frequencies that is used to provide frequency content to the waveform sequence is also varied and comprises non-contiguous first and second frequency intervals wherein a third frequency interval that is between the first and second frequency intervals remains devoid of providing frequency content to the waveform sequence in order to avoid interference. The invention is relevant to 4G LTE carrier aggregation systems/methods and/or other aspects of 4G LTE. Various transmitter/receiver embodiments are disclosed including direct synthesis transmitter/receiver embodiments.
Abstract:
A wireless network may comprise a plurality of base stations and a plurality of access points, such as femtocells, which may be installed in homes and/or offices, as deemed necessary to provide improved signal quality and increased data throughput while off-loading capacity from one or more near-by base stations. A user device may be configured to detect proximity to an access point and establish communications preferentially with the access point while refraining from communicating with a base station even though the user device is within a service region of the base station and can communicate with that base station.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of carrier aggregation are provided that increase communications capacity and throughput. According to some embodiments, a transmitter is configured with a plurality of transmitter chains and, responsive to an aggregate bandwidth and/or frequency content of an overall signal that is to be transmitted by the transmitter, the overall signal is segmented into a plurality of components, each one of which comprises a bandwidth that is smaller than the bandwidth of the overall signal, and is thus transmitted by the plurality of transmitter chains of the transmitter. Accordingly, each component of the plurality of components of the overall signal is processed by a respective transmitter chain of the plurality of transmitter chains. Systems/methods of spatial multiplexing are also provided further increasing network capacity and throughput.

Abstract:
Various embodiments of carrier aggregation are provided that increase communications capacity and throughput. Responsive to an aggregate bandwidth of a signal that is to be transmitted exceeding a limit associated with an antenna and/or other element of a transmitter, the signal is decomposed/segmented/divided into a plurality of components each one of which comprises a bandwidth that is smaller than the bandwidth of the signal. Accordingly, the transmitter is configured with a corresponding plurality of antennas and/or corresponding plurality of other elements to transmit the plurality of components. Systems/methods of spatial multiplexing are also provided further increasing network capacity and throughput.
