    Abstract: The invention relates to an induction-based cooking appliance comprising multiple heating power transferring elements (3a, 3b) and multiple heating power energy units (5a, 5b) for powering said heating power transferring elements (3a, 3b), each heating power energy unit (5a, 5b) comprising one or more power switching devices, in particular power transistors, for providing electrical power to the heating power transferring elements (3a, 3b), wherein: —said power switching devices, in particular power transistors, included in said multiple heating power energy units (5a, 5b) are wide bandgap power switching devices, in particular wide bandgap transistors, comprising more in particular semiconductor materials with a bandgap greater than 2 eV, and/or are configured to be operated in a first frequency range (FR1) and in a second frequency range (FR2) different or at least essentially identical, in particular identical, to the first frequency range (FR1); or—a first heating power transferring element (3a) is powered by a heating power energy unit (5a) comprising a first type (T1) of power switching device, in particular power transistor, adapted to be operated in a first frequency range (FR1) and a second heating power transferring element (3b) is powered by a heating power energy unit (5b) comprising a second type (T2) of power switching device, in particular power transistor, adapted to be operated in a second frequency range (FR2) different or at least essentially identical, in particular identical, to the first frequency range (FR1).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an induction hob (1), the induction hob (1) comprising a power circuit portion (2) with at least one switching element adapted to provide pulsed electric power to an induction coil (3) and a control entity (4) for controlling operating parameters of the switching element, the method comprising the steps of: performing a control loop with control cycles in order to detect coupling changes between the induction coil (3) and a piece of cookware, said control cycles comprising the steps of: receiving frequency information (fcurr) and power information (Pcurr) at said control entity (4); calculating at least one relation coefficient (Ds′, Ds″) based on said frequency information (fcurr) and said power information (Pcurr); and comparing said relation coefficient (Ds′, Ds″) with a relation coefficient boundary, thereby deriving a comparison result; deciding, based on the comparison result, whether to: perform a new control cycle of said control loop or whether to stop said control loop and said provision of pulsed electric power to the induction coil (3) and restart said control loop after updating an operating parameter of the switching element.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a connecting element (10) for connecting an induction coil (24) to a coil carrier (26) of an induction cooking hob. The connecting element (10) is made of an elastic material and formed as a single-piece part. The connecting element (10) includes a first snap-fit portion (12) connectable to a cut-out of the induction coil (24), so that the snap-fit portion (12) and the cut-out form a snap-in mechanism. The connecting element (10) includes a spring portion (14) arrangeable between the induction coil (24) and the coil carrier (26), so that the spring portion (14) provides a distance between the induction coil (24) and the coil carrier (26). The connecting element (10) includes at least one groove (16) enclosing at least partially the connecting element (10). The groove (16) is engageable with the cut-out of the induction coil (24). The connecting element (10) includes a second snap-fit portion (18) extending opposite to the first snap-fit portion (12). The second snap-fit portion (18) is connectable to a cut-out (32) of the coil carrier (26), so that the second snap-fit portion (18) and the cut-out (32) form a snap-in mechanism.
