Abstract: 1. Process for the preparation of beryllium hydride which comprises reacting, at a temperature of from 75* to about 200*C, an organodiborane of the general formula R4B2H2 with a dihydrocarbyl beryllium compound of the general formula R2''Be wherein R and R'' represent radicals selected from the group consisting of alkyl, monocyclic cycloalkyl and monocyclic aryl radicals containing from 1 to about 10, 5 to about 10 and 6 to about 10 carbon atoms, respectively, and recovering beryllium hydride from the reaction product.
