Abstract: Computer implemented method for calibrating (216) an optical recording device (150), the optical recording device (150) being associated with a field of view and an image plane, by using at least a model panel (140), the model panel (140) comprising a set of calibration indicia (40-49), and a first calibration view, wherein the first calibration view comprises a first set of calibration locations (20-29) of the field of view, wherein the method comprises at least the steps of constructing (204, 207) at least a plurality of scenes so that, for each location of the first set of calibration locations (20-29), a calibration indicium of the set of indicia is located in a respective scene of the plurality of scenes at said each location, and wherein each scene of the plurality of scenes is constructed by translating the model panel (140) to a respective position with respect to the optical recording device (150); acquiring (205, 208) at least a plurality of images (920, 930), so that each scene of the plurality of scenes is displayed in a respective image of the plurality of images (920, 930); locating (206, 209) at least a plurality of calibration loci (60-69) so that, for each location of the first set of calibration locations (20-29), a respective locus of the plurality of calibration loci (60-69) is comprised in a respective image of the plurality of images (920, 930), said respective image displaying a respective calibration indicium and said respective calibration indicium being located at said each location and being displayed in said respective locus; and calibrating (216) the optical recording device (150) by using at least the loci of the plurality of calibration loci (60-69) as locations in the image plane of the projection onto the image plane of the first calibration view.

Abstract: In one aspect the invention relates to a computer implemented method for identifying a labware item (310, 320, 330, 340, 350), the labware item (310, 320, 330, 340, 350) comprising a first optical feature and a second optical feature, wherein the method comprises the steps of acquiring of a first image of the labware item with at least a first optical recording device (150), the first image displaying at least a portion of the first optical feature; acquiring a second image of the labware item (310, 320, 330, 340, 350) with at least a second optical recording device (160), the second image displaying at least a portion of the second optical feature; and identifying the first optical feature in the first image by using at least a first identification algorithm thereby obtaining first identification data, the first identification data encoding first information on the first optical feature and information indicative of whether at least a further identification is needed, wherein if, according to the information encoded in the first identification data, the at least further identification is not needed, the method further comprises the step of identifying the labware item by using at least the first information on the first optical feature, and wherein if, according to the information encoded in the first identification data, the at least further identification is needed, the method further comprises the steps of identifying the second optical feature in the second image by using at least a second identification algorithm thereby obtaining second identification data, the second identification data encoding information on the second optical feature; and Identifying the labware item (310, 320, 330, 340, 350) by using at least the information on the second optical feature.
