    Abstract: A sensor system (10) and method for monitoring a powertrain (20) having a drive shaft (1). The sensor system (10) comprises an optical fibre (2) with a strain sensitive element (3). According to one aspect, a connection structure (4) is configured to hold at least a part of the optical fibre (2) with the strain sensitive element (3) at a radial distance (R2-R1) remote from the drive shaft (1) for amplifying the strain (S2) on the strain sensitive element (3) with respect to the strain (51) on the drive shaft (1). According to a further aspect, at least three respective lengths of one or more optical fibres follow parallel, e.g. helical, paths with respect to each other to distinguish different strain forces.

    Abstract: An optical pressure sensor device (1) comprises: a chamber (2) filled with pressure transfer medium and having at least one window (4) transparent to pressure waves; an optical fibre (7) with a Fibre Bragg Grating (8); a first pressure-sensitive mounting assembly (100) arranged within the chamber, holding the optical fibre; a second pressure-sensitive mounting assembly (200) arranged within the chamber, holding the optical fibre. The first pressure-sensitive mounting assembly, the second pressure-elm.) sensitive mounting assembly, and a static pressure compensation assembly (300) comprise pairs of bellows arranged on opposite sides of the fibre (7). The bellows (310, 320) of the static pressure compensation assembly have their interior in fluid communication with the pressure transfer medium in the chamber via a choke channel (314, 324), and have very low static stiffness.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an optical sensor device comprising a reference body, an optical fiber including an intrinsic fiber optic sensor, and a hydraulic transmission system. The hydraulic transmission system is connected to the reference body such that an input portion and an output portion are movable with respect to the reference body. The optical fiber is connected with a first connecting portion to the output portion of the hydraulic transmission system and with a second connecting portion to an element exterior to the hydraulic transmission system. The intrinsic sensor is positioned between the first and second connecting portion. The input portion is arranged for receiving an input action and the hydraulic transmission system is arranged for converting the input action to a sensing action applied to the optical fiber by the output portion such as to modify strain in the optical fiber dependent on said input action.

    Abstract: In an arrangement of a traffic infrastructure and an optic sensor system (10, 20), the traffic infrastructure has a traffic carrying surface (51) for providing support of conveyance elements (92) of a vehicle (90), therewith allowing movements of the vehicle over the traffic carrying surface. The optic sensor system (10, 20) comprising an interrogator (10) and at least one fiber optic sensor (20) arranged below the traffic carrying surface that is coupled to the interrogator. The at least one fiber optic sensor (20) comprising an optic fiber (21) with a plurality of optic strain-sensor elements (22) distributed over its length. The plurality of optic strain-sensor elements (22) have mutually different optical characteristics, e.g. a mutually different characteristic wavelength. The interrogator (10) is configured to transmit an optical interrogation signal into the at least one fiber optic sensor, to receive a response optical signal modulated by said fiber optic sensor, and to identify changes in the optical characteristics of the response optical signal resulting from strains induced in said optic strain-sensor elements as a result of a conveyance element (92) of a vehicle (90) moving over the traffic carrying surface (51) across said at least one fiber optic sensor. wherein the at least one fiber optic sensor (20) extends at least substantially according to a straight line in a direction at least substantially parallel to the traffic carrying surface.

    Abstract: The document relates to a sensor arrangement for underwater detection of a leak in fluid carrying body, comprising a sensor support structure mountable to a carrier for enabling the sensor support structure to be suitably positioned or moved. A plurality of thermal sensors is distributed on the sensor support structure forming a sensor array. The sensors are provided by optical fibers connectable to an interrogator via optical signal connectors. Each fiber comprises intrinsic fiber optic sensors at respective locations within the fiber, forming the thermal sensors. The fibers are arranged on the support structure such that the intrinsic fiber optic sensors is distributed across the support structure to span a detection area. The document further relates to a method of performing leak detection as well as for discovering natural occurring leaks (sources).
