Abstract: A choke device for an electric machine system is provided. The choke device includes a common-mode choke including a magnetic core configured in cross-section as a geometric shape including a hollow center. The choke device further includes a plurality of electric transmission lines configured for transmitting electrical energy in alternating current, wherein the plurality of electric transmission lines is routed through the hollow center. The geometric shape includes a number of sides based upon a number of the electric transmission lines present and is configured for minimizing or reducing an overall flux length of the magnetic core.

Abstract: An electronic solid-state switch assembly includes a base plate and a heat exchanger; an electrically insulating layer and a direct bonded substrate affixed to the base plate; a first terminal and a second terminal; a plurality of power transistors; a plurality of gate drivers; a communication interface, a current sensor, and a snubber circuit; and a controller. The plurality of gate drivers are operatively coupled to the plurality of power transistors. The plurality of power transistors are arranged in parallel on the direct bonded substrate between the first terminal and the second terminal. The plurality of power transistors are electrically connected to the first terminal and to the second terminal. The controller is in communication with the plurality of gate drivers, the current sensor, and the communication interface. The controller is configured to control, via the plurality of gate drivers, the plurality of power transistors.

Abstract: Apparatus and techniques for analyzing a capacitance value in an electric motor inverter are disclosed. A processor is coupled to a DC-AC inverter, which includes a capacitor across its terminals and is powered by a battery. The processor performs resistor switching to enable singular, periodic measurement of the capacitance. The measured value is compared with a nominal or beginning of life (BOL) value. An alert may be sent if the capacitance has degraded beyond a threshold. In other aspects, the DC torque ripple envelop is used to measure capacitance. The outcome is compared with the other tests to assess consistency. An inconsistent outcome may identify potential resistor degradation.

Abstract: A planar power module includes a second substrate arranged parallel to a first substrate, with the substrates respectively having a dielectric layer interposed between two conductive layers, such that one of the conductive layers of each substrate together forms parallel external conductive surfaces of the power module. Abstract: A low voltage (LV) charging system for charging a high voltage (HV) rechargeable energy storage system (RESS), such as a HV RESS operable for electrically powering a traction motor of an electric vehicle. The LV charging system may include an input configured for receiving LV electrical power from a LV source and a distributed converter system configured for charging a plurality of modules of the HV RESS via a plurality of charging circuits. The charging circuits may be configured for separately charging one of the modules with a charging electrical power derived from converting the LV electrical power. The LV charging system may further include a controller configured for individually controlling the charging electrical power provided via each of the charging circuits.
