Abstract: A vehicle includes a propulsion system having multiple electric motors. A battery system is connected to the electric motors via a direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converter and an inverter. The battery system includes a battery assembly having a plurality of battery modules. Each of the battery modules has multiple individual battery cells arranged in battery packs, a set of sensors configured to monitor a set of parameters of each battery pack, and a plurality of battery pack mounts. Each battery pack mount includes a base plate and a top plate and an actuator configured to alter a distance between plates. A monitoring unit is configured to monitor a value representative of a battery pack pressure, determine whether the value falls within a pressure threshold window, and maintain the value within the pressure threshold window by actively altering the battery pack pressure.

Abstract: A fluid bypass valve includes a valve member disposed within a valve chamber of a housing. A temperature based actuating mechanism moves the valve member between a first position and a second position in response to a temperature change. A temporary flow control device undergoes a one-time only shape change between a first shape and a second shape. The temporary flow control device enables fluid communication between a first port and a second port when exhibiting the first shape, and does not enable fluid communication between the first port and the second port when exhibiting the second shape. The temporary flow control device exhibits the first shape when having an initial temperature less than or equal to a second pre-defined temperature, and exhibits the second shape in response to a first heating of the temporary flow control device to a temperature that is greater than the second pre-defined temperature.

Abstract: A vibration welding system for joining a wire to a substrate includes a welding pad attached to a sonotrode and an anvil. The welding pad includes first energy directors that are disposed in a first region and second energy directors that are disposed in a second region. A channel is formed between the substrate and the first energy directors when the second energy directors are in contact with the substrate. The channel is configured to accommodate a portion of the wire, and has a depth that is less than a cross-sectional diameter of the wire. The wire and the substrate are clamped between the welding pad and the anvil during operation of the sonotrode. The first energy directors urge the wire towards the substrate during the operation of the sonotrode to effect joining of the wire to the substrate.
