Abstract: An improved indirectly heated cathode structure is provided for use in an electron gun of a cathode ray tube. A cathode sleeve having top and bottom open ends has a terminal ledge formed at the open top thereof. A planar closure member, having a perimetric shape similar to that of the sleeve, is seated on and affixed to the ledge thereby providing a flat substrate upon which electron emissive material is subsequently disposed.
