Abstract: In various examples, a hub for a medical device includes a hub housing including a passage from a proximal end of the hub housing to a distal end of the hub housing. A valve is disposed within the hub. The valve is configured to allow passage of an insertable device through the valve while inhibiting leakage of fluid from the valve. A cap is engaged to the hub housing. The cap includes an opening therethrough sized and shaped to allow passage of the insertable device through the opening. The opening allows access to the passage of the hub housing. An angled sidewall is disposed within the hub. The angled sidewall is configured to retain and deform the valve into a curved shape.

Abstract: The application of a titanium hydride coating on a ceramic, preferably an alumina ceramic, as a facile and inexpensive approach to bond gold to the ceramic during brazing is described. During the brazing process, the deposited titanium hydride is first partially decomposed to form pure titanium intermixed with titanium hydride. The combination of pure titanium and titanium hydride contributes to improved adhesion of gold with the alumina ceramic without any detrimental reaction between pure titanium and gold. The titanium hydride coating can be applied by dip/spray/paint coating.

Abstract: A miniature electrochemical cell having a total volume that is less than 0.5 cc is described. The cell casing is formed by joining two ceramic casing halves together. One or both casing halves are machined from ceramic to provide a recess that is sized and shaped to contain the electrode assembly. The opposite polarity terminals are electrically conductive feedthroughs or pathways, such as of gold, and are formed by brazing gold into tapered via holes machined into one or both ceramic casing halves. The two ceramic casing halves are separated from each other by a metal interlayer, such as of gold, bonded to a thin film metallization layer, such as of titanium, that contacts an edge periphery of each ceramic casing half. A solid electrolyte of LiPON (LixPOyNz) is used to activate the electrode assembly.

A solid electrolyte (LixPOyNz) activates the electrode assembly.

Abstract: In various examples, a feedthrough seal apparatus is configured to seal an opening in a device. The device includes a case surrounding an interior space, the case including the opening therein to allow access to the interior space from an exterior of the case. The feedthrough seal apparatus includes a plug disposed within the opening of the case. The plug is formed from at least one of a polymeric material and an adhesive material. The lead wire extends through the plug, such that a first end of the lead wire is disposed within the interior space of the case and a second end extends from the plug to the exterior of the case. The plug is configured to electrically insulate the lead wire from the case. Some examples include a method of making the feedthrough seal apparatus.
