Abstract: A volume to which a storage function is applied is migrated without copying data written to a volume as a migration object between computers while maintaining functionality of the storage function. A plurality of computers are accessibly connected to each of one or more physical storage devices. Each computer migrates ownership of the volume as the migration object to a computer as a destination. When the migration object volume from a first computer to a second computer is an owner volume to which a storage function is applied, the storage function requiring control data for I/O of data, the control data being metadata other than domain mapping data (indicating a relationship between a volume region and a storage region and being metadata for the owner volume), in place of or in addition to the domain mapping data.

Abstract: A possible performance bottleneck associated with insufficient network bands is mitigated to allow improvement of access performance of a storage system.
A storage system includes a first node with a storage medium of storage and a plurality of second nodes each with a controller function for the storage, and is communicatively connected to a host providing an access request to the storage. One of the plurality of second nodes is determined to be a node to which a controller function executing access processing on the storage is assigned on the basis of a first amount of data transfer between the second node and the host and a second amount of data transfer between the second node and the first node.-

Abstract: A first controller manages first mapping information for accessing data stored in a storage area, management of which is assigned to the first controller, and second mapping information for accessing data stored in a predetermined storage area, management of which is assigned to a second controller. The second controller, when having executed garbage collection on the predetermined storage area, changes mapping information to post-migration mapping information for accessing data after being migrated by the garbage collection. The first controller acquires the post-migration mapping information from the second controller, and updates the second mapping information using the post-migration mapping information when information in the second mapping information and is to be used for accessing the data in the predetermined storage area has been updated accompanying the garbage collection when the first controller accesses the data in the predetermined storage area after the garbage collection by using the second mapping information.

Abstract: Each controller moves authority for access processing to data in a logical area allocated to the controller between the controllers, for a first storage area in which there is data related to the logical areas of the plurality of controllers by moving the authority for the access processing from a first controller to a second controller. Each of the first controller and the second controller writes data after update related to a write request to the storage area allocated to the own controller and deletes data before update in the first storage area, and moves data for which the own controller has the authority for the access processing in the first storage area to another storage area allocated to the own controller while taking over the allocation of the first storage area in relocation processing of relocating data.

Abstract: Performance deterioration of a storage system is prevented. A storage controller includes one or more processors, and one or more memories configured to store one or more programs to be executed by the one or more processors. Abstract: In a distributed computing system, a bottleneck for performance of a network is avoided and a high-performance scalable resource management function is achieved. The distributed computing system includes a plurality of components connected to each other via a network. Each of the components includes a plurality of compute nodes, a plurality of drive casings, and a plurality of storage devices. The network includes a plurality of network switches and is configured in layers. When a storage region is to be allocated to a compute node among the compute nodes, a managing unit selects, from the storage devices, a storage device related to the storage region to be allocated or selects, from the drives, a drive casing related to the storage region to be allocated, based on a network distance between two of the compute node, the storage device, and the drive casing.
