Abstract: Disclosed is a method of reducing the lambda aging of a polyurethane foam, a polyisocyanurate foam or a mixture thereof comprising producing the foam from a foamable composition comprising an isocyanate and a polyol premix composition comprising a polyol or mixture of polyols, a blowing agent selected from the group consisting of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (1234ze), 1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluorobut-2-ene (1336mzzm) and/or 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (1233zd) and a flame retardant wherein the flame retardant comprises 25 phpp or less of a phosphate based flame retardant.

Abstract: This invention relates to thermoset, thermal insulating panel, pour-in-place and pour-in-place foams having desirable and unexpectedly low thermal conductivity, and to compositions, method and systems which use and/or are used to make such foams comprising: (a) providing thermosetting foam forming component and a blowing agent for forming predominantly closed cells in the foam, wherein the blowing agent comprises: (i) cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzzm(Z)) and cyclopentane, with the HFO-1336mzzm(Z) and cyclopentane in the blowing agent together comprising at least about 50% by weight of the total of all components in the blowing agent and (ii) the weight ratio of HFO-1336mzzm(Z) to cyclopentane in the blowing agent is from about 45:55 to less than 68:32 and (b) forming foam from said provided foamable composition.

Abstract: Blends, polyol premix compositions, methods of forming such compositions, foamable compositions using the premix compositions, methods of preparing foams containing the premix compositions, and foams made using the premix compositions are described. The polyol premix composition includes a polyester polyol; halogenated olefin blowing agent; and a distribution-enhancing component. In the polyol premix composition, the blowing agent, the polyester polyol, and the distribution-enhancing component form a substantially uniform composition.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices and liners for containing item(s) or fluid(s) at a temperature below ambient temperature comprising: (a) a container or compartment having an interior space and (b) thermal insulation comprising a polymeric material having closed cells therein wherein said cells are formed from and/or contain a blowing agent, said container comprising a liner comprising (i) a first layer comprising ABS and having a surface facing toward said interior space; and (ii) at least a second layer having a surface facing away from said interior space and toward said thermal insulating foam, wherein said second layer of said liner is at least one of (1) a layer formed from an amorphous or semi-crystalline polyamide resin having sufficient composition and thickness to substantially inhibit the migration of said blowing agent toward said interior space; (2) a layer formed from a polymeric material capable of absorbing a substantial portion of said blowing agent molecules emitted from said insulation; and (3) a layer containing a material capable of reacting with a substantial portion of said blowing agent emitted from said insulation.
