Abstract:
A method and apparatus for handling and discharging bulk bags allowing dosage control is disclosed. A bulk bag is hung from a maneuverable frame with a pair of winches mounted thereon. After opening the bottom of the bag, actuation of the winches tightens a cable looped around the lower portion of the bag to restrict the flow of material out of the opening. A bulk bag specially adapted for the method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for varying valve lift in an internal combustion engine are disclosed. The apparatus include a rocker arm having an elongate aperture and a shaft configured to pass through the aperture. The height of the shaft with respect to the aperture is variable to effect different rocker arm ratios when in combination with a fixed fulcrum point. When the shaft is located in a lower position with respect to the aperture in the rocker arm, the rocker arm pivots around the rocker arm shaft producing full valve lift. Alternatively, when the rocker arm shaft is positioned at a height above the lower position, an upper surface of the rocker arm becomes engageable to varying degrees with the fixed fulcrum point, allowing the rocker arm to pivot around the fixed fulcrum point, thereby reducing the rocker arm ratio, and corresponding valve lift dependent on the rocker arm shaft position. Corresponding methods are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A flap such as an aileron or a landing flap is operatively secured to the rear edge of an aircraft wing in such a manner that the wing construction itself may be thin in the direction perpendicularly to the central plane of the wing and as compared to the prior art wing structures. For this purpose a coupling plate extending vertically is secured to the bottom of the flap. The coupling plate provides two journal points arranged substantially vertically one above the other. The upper journal point is connected to the wing. The lower journal point is connected to a rocker drive. A drive piston rod is connected through crank levers to rotate the coupling plate in the manner of a four journal drive.
