Abstract: Systems and methods for digital X-ray imaging are disclosed. An example handheld X-ray scanner includes: an X-ray detector configured to output a digital image based on incident X-ray radiation; an X-ray tube configured to output X-ray radiation using a tube voltage between 40 kV and 120 kV; a frame configured to hold the X-ray detector and the X-ray tube; and a trigger configured to control the X-ray tube to output the X-ray radiation in response to user input.
