Abstract: A system for connecting users to a same instance of a persistent augmented reality environment is provided. The system (10) comprises: a server (20) managing the persistent AR environment; and a first and second device (31, 32) connected to the server (20) and configured for displaying different instances of the persistent AR environment, each device (31, 32) being configured to transmit to the server (20) data indicating a position of the device and angular orientation of a front, top, camera or antenna of the device; wherein the server (20) is configured to detect whether a front, top, camera or antenna of the first and second device (31, 32) are oriented towards each other and if so, to sync the persistent AR environments of the first and second device (31, 32) with each other to connect to a same instance of the persistent AR environment. A method for connecting users to a persistent augmented reality environment, a server comprising circuitry configured to carry out the method and a computer program product adapted to carry out the method are also provided.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for displaying details of a texture of a three-dimensional, 3D, object, wherein the texture comprises a periodic pattern, is provided. The method comprises, while zooming in on the 3D object: determining a portion of the 3D object, wherein the determined portion of the 3D object corresponds to a zoom level; displaying the determined portion of the 3D object including a corresponding portion of the texture. The method further comprises, upon the zoom level reaching a zoom-in threshold, executing a 3D to 2D transition comprising: identifying a two-dimensional, 2D, image representing the texture of the currently displayed portion of the 3D object from a set of 2D images, each 2D image of the set of 2D images representing the texture of the 3D object at a specific of portion of the 3D object, wherein at least one 2D image of the set of 2D images represents the texture of the 3D object at a plurality of portions of the 3D object; wherein a resolution of the 2D image is higher than a resolution of the texture of the portion of the 3D object at the zoom-in threshold.

Abstract: A computerized method comprising acquiring an image of a physical environment comprising one or more physical entities; generating a virtual view based on the acquired image, the virtual view being a 3D representation of the physical environment and comprising 3D data corresponding to the one or more physical entities of the physical environment; displaying the virtual view overlaid on the acquired image of the physical environment; obtaining bounding volumes for a plurality of 3D object models; merging said bounding volumes for the plurality of 3D object models into a virtual bounding volume, said merging occurring with respect to a particular 3D point within each one of the bounding volumes such that the particular 3D points coincide in the virtual bounding volume; and displaying the virtual bounding volume in the virtual view.
