Abstract: An EL display apparatus is provided. A display screen includes pixels arranged in a matrix, with each pixel including an EL device and a pixel circuit. A source driver circuit is configured to output an analog video signal to each pixel. A gate driver circuit is on at least one side of the display screen, with the gate driver circuit including first and second gate driver circuits. Each pixel includes a driving transistor, a first switch transistor, and a second switch transistor. A gate terminal of the first switch transistor is connected to a first gate signal line of the first gate driver circuit, and a gate terminal of the second switch transistor is connected to a second gate signal line of the second gate driver circuit. The first and second switch transistors are on/off controlled, independently, by the first and second gate driver circuits.

Abstract: An EL display apparatus is provided. A display screen includes pixels arranged in a matrix, with each pixel including an EL device and a pixel circuit. A source driver circuit is configured to output an analog video signal to each pixel. A gate driver circuit is on at least one side of the display screen, with the gate driver circuit including first and second gate driver circuits. Each pixel includes a driving transistor, a first switch transistor, and a second switch transistor. A gate terminal of the first switch transistor is connected to a first gate signal line of the first gate driver circuit, and a gate terminal of the second switch transistor is connected to a second gate signal line of the second gate driver circuit. The first and second switch transistors are on/off controlled, independently, by the first and second gate driver circuits.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method of control are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which intersect source signal lines. A pixel provided with an EL device corresponds to each intersection of the gate and source signal lines. A driving transistor is provided for each pixel to supply a current to the EL device. A first switch transistor is provided on a current path through which the current is supplied to the EL device. A gate driver circuit is connected to the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit includes a shift register circuit, and outputs a select or non-select signal for the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit turns the first switch transistor on and off to control a duty ratio of the display screen. The duty ratio is controlled by a start pulse fed to the shift register circuit.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and corresponding method of control are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which are arranged to intersect source signal lines. A pixel provided with an EL device corresponds to each intersection of the gate signal lines and the source signal lines. A driving transistor is provided for each pixel to supply a current to the EL device. A first switch transistor is provided for each pixel on a current path through which the current is supplied to the EL device. A gate driver circuit is connected to the gate signal lines. The gate driver circuit is configured to turn the first switch transistor on and off to simultaneously generate band-shaped non-display regions and band-shaped display regions on the display screen and to move the band-shaped non-display regions and the band-shaped display regions relative to the display screen.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and method of controlling are provided. A display screen includes gate and source signal lines. A pixel corresponds to each intersection of the gate and source signal lines. Each pixel includes: an EL device including anode and cathode terminals, the cathode terminal being connected to a common reference voltage; a driving transistor to flow a current to the EL device; a first switch transistor provided on a current path through which the current flows from a power line through the driving transistor to the EL device; a second switch transistor to supply, to the driving transistor, an image signal from one source signal line; and a third switch transistor provided between the anode terminal of the EL device and a voltage line. The voltage line is configured to supply a reverse bias voltage for reverse biasing the anode terminal of the EL device.

Abstract: An EL display includes a flexible board including: a plurality of connection terminals arranged at one side for connection with panel lines formed on a panel board; terminal connection lines for connecting points inside the flexible board with the connection terminals; serial connection lines for connecting between two or more of the connection terminals. On the flexible board: driver output terminals of each of gate driver ICs are connected to terminal connection lines; driver input terminals of the gate driver IC are connected to either terminal connection lines or the serial connection lines; and control terminals for performing logic setting of the gate driver IC are each arranged between connection terminals and driver input terminals to which the serial connection lines are connected. As a result, the number of control lines to be formed on the flexible board in serial connection is reduced.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and manufacturing method are provided. A display screen includes gate signal lines which are arranged to intersect source signal lines. A pixel corresponds to each intersection of the gate signal lines and the source signal lines. Each pixel includes: an EL device; a driving transistor to supply a current to the EL device; a first switch transistor through which the current is supplied by the driving transistor to the EL device; a second switch transistor provided to supply, to the driving transistor, an image signal supplied to a corresponding one of the source signal lines; a third switch transistor provided between a gate terminal and a drain terminal of the driving transistor; and a capacitor connected to the gate terminal of the driving transistor for holding the image signal. The third switch transistor has a multi-gate structure.

Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) display apparatus and corresponding method of control are provided. A display screen includes pixels arranged in a matrix. A pixel circuit of each of the pixels includes, in part: a second switch transistor to supply, to a driving transistor, an image signal; and a third switch transistor for initially resetting the pixel circuit before the second switch transistor supplies the image signal. A gate terminal of the second switch transistor and a gate terminal of the third switch transistor are connected to a second gate driver circuit. The second gate driver circuit includes a first gate driver circuit and a second gate driver circuit. Abstract: An EL display apparatus according to the present invention includes an EL device adapted to emit light at a luminance corresponding to a current fed thereto. A source driver outputs a current higher than a current corresponding to an analog video signal to the EL device through a source signal line. This operation charges/discharges a parasitic capacitance present in the source signal line. A second gate driver circuit controls a transistor formed between the EL device and the source driver to operate so that the EL device is fed with the current for only a part of a one-frame period. As a result, the El device emits light for only the part of the period.
