Abstract: A submersible aerator includes a hollow cylindrical housing having an open upper end, an open lower end and a hollow interior. An air supply hose extends from an air supply source into the upper end of the housing and terminates at an air outlet, immediately above the lower end of the housing. Attached to the interior surface of the housing outer wall are a series of vertically spaced, oppositely facing baffle plates that provide impact surfaces to cleave rising air bubbles into smaller bubbles. A weep hole is formed on the outer surface of the air supply hose, equidistantly positioned between each adjacent pair of baffle plates. Accordingly, excess air pressure will be relieved via the weep holes as opposed to the lower end of the housing to protect nearby external equipment.

Abstract: A mixing apparatus is disclosed for ponds and other shallow bodies of water. The apparatus uses air flow to entrain and move large volumes of water up and through the mixer. This movement of water creates a mixing of water from different depths within the body of water, and thus prevents, eliminates, or reduces stagnation of the water. The air flow is driven by one or more blowers, which may be mounted on the apparatus. The air from the blower is injected into the water about one to two feet below the surface. The air is injected through a series of relatively large holes positioned on opposed sides of tubing. The injected air creates water flow in sufficiently large volumes to mix the water within a shallow body of water of moderate size.

Abstract: A submersible aerator apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus uses injected air to create both aeration and mixing of a liquid. The apparatus is submersible and may be lowered into a container holding a liquid with suspended and coagulated solids, such as fats, oil, and grease (FOG). Air supplied to the apparatus is injected into the liquid through a hose, which results in an upward flow of large air bubbles and entrained liquid. The upwardly moving large air bubbles are cleaved (i.e., broken apart) by a series of baffle plates that are generally perpendicular to the direction of flow of the air bubbles. This action mixes and aerates the liquid.

Abstract: An anti-icing apparatus for use with an aerator or other in-water device is disclosed. The anti-icing apparatus uses perforated tubes to introduce ambient air into a body of liquid. Anti-icing tubes are positioned near the lower periphery of the sides of the aerator housing. A blower is used to supply ambient air to the anti-icing tubes. The anti-icing tubes produce a blanket of air bubbles around the housing and thus prevent the formation of ice around the aerator. The anti-icing apparatus may be used to protect various devices that must remain in a body of water during sustained periods of below-freezing temperatures.
