Abstract:
A system for the combustion of high solids liquid to produce steam for the production of ethanol is disclosed. The system comprises a method for combusting high solids liquid. The method comprises supplying a stream of high solids liquid to a furnace; atomizing the stream of high solids liquid into the furnace; and distributing biomass fuel into the furnace. The stream of high solids liquid are combusted with the biomass fuel in the furnace.
Abstract:
A system for conveying biomass is disclosed. The system is configured to convey biomass for collection, transport, or processing. The system comprises a housing comprising an opening configured for the entry of biomass, at least one shoe skid configured to offset the housing in a vertical orientation, an apparatus at least partially within the housing comprising at least one rotating blade assembly, and a conduit configured to discharge biomass from the housing so that biomass entering into the housing can be projected by the apparatus through the conduit for collection or transport. The system may comprise conduit that is extendable and has articulation segments for vertical movement. The system may comprise a housing that comprises a member to dislodge the biomass from a pile to flow into the opening. The system may comprise at least one shoe skid that comprises a large surface area and projects forward of the housing.
Abstract:
A system for transferring heat from an ethanol and water vapor stream is disclosed as having a first heat exchanger, a valve system coupled to first heat exchanger and a first tank, a second tank coupled to the valve system, a second heat exchanger coupled to first tank and second tank, and a pipe line connecting the second tank to the first heat exchanger. A method for transferring heat is provided and involves intermittently cooling a first media, transferring heat from the first media to a second media, and directing the second media to a valve system. The valve system directs a flow of the second media to the first tank when a temperature of second media is above a temperature set point and directs the flow of the second media to the second tank when the temperature of second media is below the temperature set point.
Abstract:
A system for treating biomass for the production of ethanol is disclosed. The system comprises an apparatus for unloading bulk material, comprising: a liner positioned against a wall and a floor; wherein the floor comprises an outer edge and an inner edge; wherein the wall comprises an upper edge and a lower edge; wherein the liner comprises an upper edge and a lower edge; wherein the liner can be in a first position or a second position; wherein the bulk material is loaded onto the liner in the first position; and wherein the liner is moved into the second position to facilitate the unloading of the bulk material. The apparatus for unloading bulk materials may comprise one or more cables to move the liner. The apparatus for unloading bulk materials may also comprise a mechanism to retract the one or more cables wherein the mechanism comprises a roller system.
Abstract:
A belt conveyor system is provided. Belt conveyor system comprises a belt conveyor comprising a first end and a second end. Belt conveyor system also comprises a first hopper located at the first end for loading bulk material onto the belt conveyor. Belt conveyor system also comprises a dispersion assembly on the second end, the dispersion assembly projects and radially disperses the bulk material onto a pile. Also provided is a belt conveyor apparatus for projecting bulk material onto a pile having a smooth profile. The belt conveyor apparatus comprises a dispersion assembly located at an unload end of a conveyor, the dispersion assembly comprises a dispersion roller and a structure for positioning the dispersion roller relative to the conveyor.
