Abstract:
A method of detecting activity with a MEMS accelerometer stores a value of acceleration, then measures acceleration at a later time, calculates a change in acceleration using the measured acceleration and the stored acceleration, and compares the change in acceleration to an activity threshold to detect activity. A method of detecting inactivity uses a similar technique along with a timer. The method of detecting inactivity with a MEMS accelerometer stores an acceleration value, then measures acceleration at a later time, calculates a change in acceleration using the measured acceleration and the stored acceleration, and compares the change in acceleration to an inactivity threshold. If the change in acceleration is less than the inactivity threshold and, if a predetermined period of time has elapsed, then inactivity is detected.
Abstract:
The multiple compartment pill dispenser has a rotatable cap mechanism having two holes associated with the cap which are displaceable to be aligned with each of the compartments of the dispenser. There are two standard sized holes, one for small pills and one for large pills. The dial cap mechanism is used to rotate one of the two holes into alignment with a particular pill compartment and allow a pill to be dispensed therefrom. As a closure device, an alignment plate is rotatably mounted in the cap mechanism. The alignment plate also includes two different sized holes, identical in diameter, respectively, to the two holes in the cap mechanism.

Abstract:
disclosed is an apparatus for generating and controlling a desired substrate potential level or a semiconductor chip. A pulse source, such as an oscillator, provides a pulse train which, in combination with a control signal from the substrate voltage detector, selectively discharges a capacitor in a voltage level converter for obtaining a desired level of substrate potential. A feedback path through the substrate regulates the conductivity of a reference transistor in the substrate voltage detector providing the required control signal.

The present invention is directed to a novel naturally occurring human cytokine that is comprised of a heterodimer of interleukin-17 and interleukin-17F designated herein as interleukin 17A/F (IL-17A/F). Also provided herein are vectors and host cells comprising those nucleic acid sequences, chimeric polypeptide molecules comprising the polypeptides of the present invention fused to heterologous polypeptide sequences, specific antibodies which bind to the polypeptides of the present invention and to methods for producing the polypeptides of the present invention. Further provided herein are methods for treating degenerative cartilaginous disorders and other inflammatory diseases.
Abstract:
A minimally invasive orthopedic fastener for the repair of torn rotator cuff tendons. The rotator cuff is thereby repaired transarthroscopically to bring the tendons tight to the bone. This is accomplished by the use of a bone screw having a plurality of vanes pivotally mounted thereon. The vanes are pivotal from a retracted position extending along a length of the screw to an extended position extending substantially perpendicular to the shaft of the screw. The fastener is cannulated and taken down over a guide wire through a minimal incision to the operative site. Under direct vision, the screw is initially rotated into the bone by a screwdriver passed from the proximal end of the cannula to the distal end of the cannula to engage the fastener. The cannula is then partially withdrawn and by continued rotation of the screw, the vanes are moved into a position substantially perpendicular to the screw, thereby entrapping the tendons between the vanes of the screw and the bone.
Abstract:
A method of capturing an event in a MEMS accelerometer stores acceleration data in memory, detects a trigger event based on the acceleration data, and modifies a configuration of the memory so that a specified amount of the acceleration data is saved. A MEMS event capturing system includes an inertial sensor having sensor circuitry and event capturing circuitry implemented with the sensor circuitry. The event capturing circuitry includes memory capable of storing acceleration data received from the inertial sensor and a detection module operatively coupled with the memory that detects a trigger event. The event capturing circuitry also includes a management module operatively coupled with the memory and the detection module that modifies the memory's storage configuration when the trigger event is detected.
Abstract:
A reel or spool package has opposing sidewalls or flanges formed of the specified or appropriate substrate. A core is positioned between the sidewalls. An insert is positioned into a center aperture of the core. A flowable adhesive material may be injected through an aperture in the sidewall and into a chamber that is formed between the insert, the core and the sidewall. The material sets and bonds the core and the sidewall to form the package.
