Abstract:
A semiconductor light source with optical feedback includes a vertical member extending upward from an upper horizontal surface of a header parallel to a vertical beam projected from a semiconductor light-emitting element mounted on the horizontal surface of the header wherein the vertical member supports a light-sensing element for receiving light reflected transversely from the vertical beam by a beam splitter supported by the vertical member. The vertical beam passing through the beam splitter passes through a window or filter in a cap mounted on the header and covering the light-emitting element, the light-sensing element, the beam splitter, and the vertical member. Substantially all of the transversely reflected light impinges on the light-sensing element and can be used to control the power to the light-emitting element. A simple lens can by used to collimate the beam. Interior portions of the unit are formed from light absorbing materials such as black ceramic, black plastic, anodized aluminum, etc. The combined effect of the non-reflective interior of the assembly, the orientation of the photo-diode to have an acceptance cone perpendicular to the beam axis, the small entrance pupil, and the optical filter reduces ambient radiation in the unit by as much as −75 dB of the level outside the device. This reduces noise and drift in the automatic power control loop to produce constant intensity in the output light beam.
Abstract:
A system and method for allowing funds to be transferred instantly to an account so that the funds are available to the beneficiary at the time they are sent, based on customer information which can be automatically accessed by the system, rather than needing to be manually entered. Further, the system automatically computes the appropriate exchange rate and any fees to be charged to the account and displays them to the user so that the user may authorize or cancel the transaction. The system also analyzes the parameters of the transfer to assure that the transfer conforms with pertinent government regulations. The system also enables the user to quantify the amount to be transferred in the currency of the originating account or the currency of the receiving account, thereby maximizing the flexibility of the system. The system further is designed so that it can be understood and accessed by individuals having no special expertise in computers, wire transfers and the like. Further, the system is provided with various safeguards to assure that only authorized individuals have access to the accounts and the funds and immediately verifies successful completion or failure to the customer.

Abstract:
A remotely positionable control system for use with a container hoist vehicle having a main frame and container manipulating elements includes an articulating support assembly having a first arm connectable to a hoist vehicle and a second arm movably connected to the first arm to move between a storage rest position and an extended use position, each of the first and second arms having inboard and outboard ends; a control console mounted to the outboard end of the second arm and having at least one user control element; signal transfer means for operationally connecting the at least one user control element with the container manipulating elements; and, a pivot control apparatus for releasably holding the second arm in at least one of the storage rest position and the extended use position.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for transferring funds. The invention supports funds transfers from a source account to a cash access file which can be accessed virtually twenty-four hours a day by both customers and non-customers. Access is achieved by the recipient entering a codeword selected by the sender, along with a transaction code randomly generated by the system. Once the sender provides the codeword and the transaction code to the recipient, the recipient can receive transferred cash through an ATM, even without using a card to access the system. Cash may be transferred across international borders and dispensed in a currency different than that of the sender's source account. Although cash is made available to a recipient virtually as soon as the requested transfer is approved and confirmed by the sender, the sender's account is not debited until the cash is actually received by the recipient. Other features, including security, cancellation, and status inquiries are also described.
