Abstract:
One aspect of an invention disclosed herein relates to improved durability of the thumb engaging portion of a tape rule locking assembly. In accordance with this aspect, there is provided a retractable rule assembly comprising a housing assembly; a reel rotatably mounted in the housing assembly; and an elongated blade formed of a ribbon of metal being wound on the reel. The elongated blade has measuring indicia formed on a concave side thereof; and a coil spring formed of a ribbon of metal is constructed to rotate the reel in the housing assembly in a direction to wind up the elongated blade. A blade holding assembly for holding the blade in a position of extension outwardly of said housing, said blade holding assembly comprising a resilient thumb engaging portion and a receiving region behind the thumb engaging portion to enable the thumb engaging portion to deform into the receiving region to absorb impact.
Abstract:
A premises, connected to receive broadband service(s) and also connected to a cable system, is provided with a broadband interface which connects to in-premises cabling which is coupled to consumer receivers such as a television sets, PDAs, laptops. Connected to the broadband interface is an adjunct device which channels broadband, data and voice signals supplied to an in-premises wireless system as distinguished from the signals supplied to the cable connected consumer receivers. The adjunct device formats the broadband and voice signals or any broadband service into packet format suitable for signal radiation and couples them to the in-premises coax cabling, via a diplexer, at a first selected location. At a second cable location a second diplexer, connected to the cable, separates the broadband, data and voice signals and couples them to a signal radiation device (i.e., an RF antenna or leaky coaxial cable) which radiates the signal to the immediate surrounding location. Various devices, near to the second cable location for specific services, receive the wireless signals (i.e., broadband, data and voice) from the radiating antenna.

Abstract:
A system and methods for rapid unloading and reorganization of heirarchical databases. Overflow and a window of blocks are progressively read into memory. Unloading proceeds as the scan cylinders window moves ahead. The reading of blocks stays about scan cylinders ahead of the unload. As a segment is unloaded, its space is converted to free IMS space and when appropriate, combined with adjacent free space already in the block. Thus about a window behind the unload point in the database, all of the segments in a block will have been converted to free space making the block one unit of free space.
Abstract:
A system and methods for rapid unloading and reorganization of hierarchical databases. Thus about a window behind the unload point in the data base, all of the segments in a block will have been converted to free space making the block one unit of free space. There will then be no further references to this block and it may be page released back to the OS memory management. Thus no paging subsystem I/O occurs. Where data remains in the data space at the conclusion of the unload, errors are noted that would otherwise have gone unnoticed. When a new database is populated with segments from a disorganized database, the invention provides methods for advance calculation of what the segment RBA is going to be in the database to be reloaded. The proxy dataset consists of proxy blocks. Each proxy block in the proxy data set is represented by a counter that denotes the space available in the proxy block. Segments are unloaded in an algorithmic order that corresponds to a hierarchical relationship in the database. As the segments are unloaded, rather than a literal load of the proxy dataset, the length of each segment is sequentially deducted from the proxy block counter. Because, in a preferred embodiment, the proxy load uses the same algorithm that will be used to actually populate the new reorganized dataset, at each proxy segment load, the counter may be used to calculate the RBA the segment will exhibit in the reorganized dataset. Stored in a table is the segment's current and future RBA. The logical parent or logical child RBA pointer of segments that participate in logical relationships is used to search the RBA table. When a match is found, the RBA in the segment's prefix is replaced with the corresponding new RBA found in the table. For segments in databases being reorganized, the RBA for segments in logical relationships is used to search the RBA table. When a match is found, the new RBA is placed in the segment pointer field in place of the old or prior RBA.
Abstract:
A display container for displaying a spherical article includes a left side panel, a right side panel, and a connector coupled to the left side panel and the right side panel. Each of the left and right side panels includes a curved edge adapted to engage the spherical article. The curved edges cooperate to define a C-shaped opening to receive the spherical article therein. The connector is configured so that much of the surface area of the spherical article is exposed outside of the display container.
