Abstract: A method for producing a compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, tautomer or stereoisomer, such as compound 1 and compound 2 is disclosed. The method proceeds through an O-allylated tyrosine-based compound, such as compound 3 and preferably comprises [3,3] sigmatropic Claisen rearrangement and olefin cross metathesis reactions. In addition, a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of formula (I) a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient is disclosed.

Abstract: A sensor for the detection of mercury ions that includes a substrate, a nanocomposite material at least partially covering a surface of the substrate. The nanocomposite material includes naphthalene-modified silica nanoparticles (NSPs) of Formula (I). The NSPs contains a naphthalene moiety, a maleic moiety, and an alkylamine functionalized silica nanoparticle, wherein the naphthalene moiety is covalently linked to the alkylamine functionalized silica nanoparticle via the maleic moiety. The nanocomposite material has a thermal stability up to a temperature of about 200° C. as determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

Abstract: A crosslinked resin made up of polymerized units of a linear polyamine with at least 3 primary and/or secondary amine functionalities and a bisacrylamide. The crosslinked polymers are porous spherical particles with a BET surface area in the range of 50-120 m2/g. A method of the synthesizing the crosslinked polymer is specified. A method for using the crosslinked resin as an adsorbent material in removing pollutants including organic dyes (e.g. Congo red, Rhodamine B) and heavy metals from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample is also described.

Abstract: A method of applying a pesticide composition to a target surface, including contacting the pesticide composition with the target surface; and leaving the pesticide composition on the target surface for a period of time. The pesticide composition includes a pesticide; and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs). An outer surface of the SPIONs have at least one coating selected from the group consisting of a polyethylene glycol, a compound with a carbon chain having up to 30 carbon atoms, a silane, and an aminosilane with a primary amine group to form coated SPIONs, where the pesticide interacts with the at least one coating on the coated SPIONs, and where the SPIONs are substantially spherical and have an average diameter of 10-30 nm.
