Abstract:
A radar processing system and method for extracting from received radar data information about moving targets even though the absolute energy reflected by these targets is much less than the energy reflected by the stationary background. The processing system includes an optical recorder for recording the magnitude of the reflected energy and a coherent optical processor for processing the recorded information by computing the power spectrum of the Doppler frequency shift in the recorded information and thereby distinguishing a true target from the stationary background. In addition, means are provided for eliminating from the recorded information any range ambiguities produced at higher pulse repetition frequencies because, at these higher frequencies, echoes from far ranges return at the same time as echoes generated by later radar pulses return from near ranges. The optical processor can operate on data from airborne or groundbased radars.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for recording intelligence on a moving sheet such as a light sensitive strip. The data is modulated into a coherent light reference or a signal beam of a holographic recording system while one of the beams is altered in angle for each pass across the recording strip to record a series of holograms, each adjacent series on the strip having a spatial frequency different from the next wherein overlap will not interfere with readout which isolates each frequency in turn.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for creating an encoded fingerprint card which consists of a hologram of a fingerprint created by a main illuminating beam and a reference beam on a sensitive photographic plate and the use of the encoded fingerprint in a matched filter correlator in real time wherein the fingerprint of a subject can be introduced into the system and correlated with the encoded information to verify identity between the original encoded information and the person claiming identity therewith. The system also includes an output pick-up utilizing a moving reticle and photomultiplier to determine correlation peaks for registration of identity.
