Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel having a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines, a liquid crystal element and a memory element. A mode conversion unit converts a mode of the liquid crystal panel to a normal mode or a power saving mode. A timing controller drives the liquid crystal panel in either mode and outputs gate driving information and image data. A data driver transmits the image data from the timing controller to the plurality of data lines. A gate driver decodes the gate driving information input from the timing controller to generate a gate driving signal and outputs the gate driving signal to the plurality of gate lines.
