A holding device for an operator control on a front cover of an electrical appliance is designed for attachment to the front cover and has a feedthrough for a rotating shaft of a rotary encoder of the operator control. The holding device is embodied in an annular fashion around the feedthrough and has a front cover attachment part as well as a lighting ring part which is fitted onto the front of the front cover attachment part. The lighting ring part essentially covers the front cover attachment part toward the front, wherein the two parts have a circular-ring-like intermediate space between them, in which intermediate space at least one component carrier, which has a plurality of LEDs on the side toward the front cover attachment part, is arranged.

An operating device for an electric hob comprises a plurality of touch pads as touch points, in which operation takes place by applying a finger to specific defined touch points. The touch pads may be in themselves structurally movable separately of the electric hob or the operating device. The touch pads comprise individual coding circuits which can be accomplished by way of modulation of an electromagnetic field. The operating device has an electrode surface for attachment next to the electric appliance, on which the touch pads are arranged. Capacitive coupling is formed between the touch pads and the electrode surface. The operating device comprises a drive and evaluation device connected to the electrode surface both for detecting touching of a touch pad in general and for detecting and differentiating between touching of a specific touch pad and touching of another touch pad as indicated by the individual coding circuit.

When a control panel is pushed down by a process of operation, the FSR sensor changes its electrical resistance resulting in change of a signals that can be detected and interpreted as operation of the appliance by a user.

The invention relates to an operating device for a stove top, the device comprising rotary operating parts that are rotatably mounted in a base. The parts have a protruding region as a signal means, the region rotating in a plane of the stove top or a stove top plate when the rotary operating part rotates. In said plane, the stove top has a distance sensor, which can detect the rotation of the protruding region by means of the variable distance and evaluate the same as a rotational actuation or rotational movement for operating the stove top.

In the case of a method for operating a cooking point with a gas burner of a gas hob in which a pan detection is provided for switching off the gas burner when the pan is removed, the pan detection can detect the re-placement of a removed pan onto the cooking point. It then brings about a further operation of the gas burner by igniting the gas burner. When the gas burner is ignited after re-placement of the pan, a power level originally set for the gas burner is only achieved to the full extent with a time delay.

An operator control device for functional adjustment of a functional device includes an operator control knob which has an off position in which the operator control device is deactivated. Said knob can be brought into a working position for functional adjustment purposes. The working position is predetermined by a lock-in position, and, starting from the working position, the operator control knob can be pulled out of the operator control device or pressed into the operator control device against a counterforce which increases as the distance from the working position increases. Here, the operator control device includes a movement detection means for detecting movement of the operator control knob out of the working position in one direction or in the other direction. The movement detection means is connected to a controller of the operator control device so as to carry out functional adjustment in a manner dependent on the detected movement.

An operating device and an electrical appliance provided with said operating device is disclosed. The electrical appliance comprises light barriers mounted on a frame that rests on a worktop. The light barriers can detect whether a finger is placed on one or more of the control panels for operation or controlling of said operating device or said electrical appliance. The control panels are arranged along one line in front of the light barriers. The control panels are provided at the top thereof with corresponding identifications, for example in the form of symbols. By moving the control panels away from the actual housing of the electrical appliance it is possible to provide larger heated surfaces for the cooking places.

An operating device for an electrical appliance, for example a cooking appliance, is provided with a deformable metallic control panel, underneath which an electret microphone cartridge is disposed. The membrane of the microphone cartridge can be coupled to the lower side of the control panel by means of an elastomer. When pressure is exerted on the control panel by a user pressing on the operating field and causing it to deflect, the membrane of the electret microphone is moved, which in turn causes movement in the microphone and causes a signal that can be evaluated as the operating input by a user.

In an operating device for a cooktop with a liquid crystal display with two LCD plates, on the top of the lower of the two LCD plates is directly applied a microcontroller in the form of semiconductor chip, for example using COG technology. The semiconductor chip not only controls the LCD, but there are also provided capacitive sensor elements located on said LCD that are evaluated by the semiconductor chip, so that an independent module is formed. The module can be connected by suitable electrical connections to the cooktop and can at least partly or completely control the same.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a method and device are disclosed for the transport of goods by rail, wherein goods wagons are used with independent propulsion means. The propulsion means for the goods wagons are used only for short journeys from a station to a customer and back. For long journeys the goods wagons are assembled into a train and pulled by a tractor vehicle.
