Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reducing outage scope in cable networks with ideal taps. An ideal tap may have a plurality of ports that include at least an input port configured for receiving downstream (DS) signals from and transmitting upstream (US) signals to upstream nodes, an output port configured for transmitting downstream (DS) signals to and receiving upstream (US) signals from downstream nodes, and one or more drop ports for receiving signal from and transmitting signals to customer premise equipment (CPE) in the coaxial network. The ideal tap may further include one or more mitigation components configured for reducing scope of outage in the ideal tap, with the one or more mitigation components configured to, when an outage occurs in the ideal tap, provide or maintain inter-port connectivity within the ideal tap, the inter-port connectivity including at least connectivity between the input port and the output port.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for implementing and using multiband transceivers. In a transmitter that comprises a plurality of transmit paths, a frequency spectrum that is used for transmission may be assigned to the plurality of transmit paths. Performance in each of the plurality of transmit paths may be monitored during transmission of signals, and based on the monitored performance, at least one of segmentation of the frequency spectrum and assignment of the segments to the plurality of transmit paths may be dynamically modified. Performance monitoring may be based on spectrum usage, peak to average power ratio (PAPR), and/or performance related criteria (e.g., threshold, timeout duration, etc.). Modifying operation of a transmit path may comprise disabling or enabling that transmit path. The frequency spectrum may be segmented such that each of the segments is uniformly sized, or such that at least one of the segments is sized differently.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for implementing and using a transceiver with multiple transmission paths. Performance may be monitored in at least one of the multiple transmit paths, based on power related parameters and/or frequency spectrum usage. Based on the monitored performance, one or both of operation of a particular transmit path from the multiple transmit paths may be controlled and assigning of a plurality of segments, in a frequency spectrum that is used for transmission of signals, to the multiple transmit paths. Controlling operation of the particular transmit path may comprise disabling or enabling that transmit path. The frequency spectrum may be segmented, into the plurality of segment, such that each of the segments is uniformly sized, or at least one of the segments is sized differently. The segmenting may be performed to maintain compliance and/or compatibility with one or more protocols or standards applicable to said transmission.
