Abstract: A system and method for degassing cables, such as e.g. High-Voltage Alternative Current (HVAC) or High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cables, where the system has a reel having a perforated cylinder wall and sealing elements adapted to seal off the inner space of the reel, a gas duct in fluid connection with the inner space, and a source of pressurised and heated gas fluidly connected to the gas duct. The method incudes winding a cable onto the reel and blow heated and pressurised gas into the inner space of the reel/cylinder.
