Abstract: An agricultural implement including an implement frame, a trench opener, a gauge wheel arm and a depth adjustment assembly. A depth adjustment body is disposed between the depth adjustment assembly and the gauge wheel arm. An accelerometer is disposed on at least one of the depth adjustment assembly, the gauge wheel arm and the depth adjustment body and is configured to detect a position thereof. The accelerometer is disposed such that none of the x-axis, y-axis and z-axis of the accelerometer are perpendicular to the soil surface across the entire range of motion of the depth adjustment assembly, the gauge wheel arm or depth adjustment body to which the accelerometer is attached.

Abstract: A seed firmer and bracket combination for a planter row unit. The bracket includes a forward end configured to mount to a frame member of the planter row unit. The seed firmer includes a body having an upper portion, a lower portion, and a resiliently flexible central portion. The upper portion of the seed firmer body is releasably retained between a forward surface and a back surface of the rearward end of the bracket by a rearwardly extending upper arm and lower arms that respectively engage a top edge and a bottom edge of the back surface preventing the seed firmer body from moving vertically and horizontally relative to the bracket until the upper arm is disengaged from the top edge of the back surface.
