Abstract:
A temporary radiotherapy facility for use during renovation, upgrading, and/or modernization of an existing facility. The radiotherapy facility is integrated with radiation producing equipment and radiation shielding vaults. The structural elements and their arrangement enable compliance with applicable codes for this type of facility and provide an ability to maintain radiotherapy treatment continuity during equipment transition.
Abstract:
A temporary radiotherapy facility for use during renovation, upgrading, and/or modernization of an existing facility. The radiotherapy facility includes a central vault room containing a radiation emitting device and a platform for holding a quantity of radiation shielding material above the central vault room. The platform is supported by shear walls that are disposed outside the sidewalls of the central vault room such that the radiation shielding material is supported and suspended above the central vault room without being in contact with or bearing upon the central vault room or affecting the height or level of the central vault room.
Abstract:
The present disclosure, in an embodiment, is a facility that includes a device configured to generate a beam having an energy range of 5 MeV to 500 MeV, a first radiation shielding wall surrounding the device, a second radiation shielding wall surrounding the first radiation shielding wall, radiation shielding fill material positioned between the first radiation shielding wall and the second radiation shielding wall forming a first barrier. In embodiments, the radiation shielding fill material includes at least fifty percent by weight of an element having an atomic number from 12 to 83, and a thickness of the first barrier is 0.5 meter to 6 meters.

Abstract:
A modularized approach for rapidly and cost effectively assembling a structure suitable for housing radiation emitting equipment is disclosed. The modules include reinforced walls to contain radiation shielding fill material. The modules are transported empty and then filled on site with the fill material to form a radiation shielding barrier around radiation emitting equipment.
