Abstract: A bale wagon adapted to pick up bales and form them into a composite stack and further adapted to unload individual bales from the formed stack in single bale fashion. The bale wagon basically comprises a load rack, a slightly forwardly inclined transfer table spaced forwardly of the load rack and moveable back and forth therebetween, and a vertically reciprocable receiving table interposed between the transfer table and load rack. During the loading mode of operation, the receiving table functions to transfer bales to the transfer table and after a complete tier has been formed thereon the transfer table moves rearwardly to a position adjacent the front end of the load rack where the tier is deposited. To unload, the transfer table is actuated rearwardly to the position adjacent the load rack, retrieves the end tier and moves back to its original position. The receiving table then operates through a series of cycles, retrieving a portion of the tier from the transfer table during each cycle while the complement of the tier is held by hooks which engage the lower layer of bales of the tier. At the end of each cycle of the receiving table, the retrieved bales are conveyed transversely from the bale wagon in a single bale fashion.

Abstract: A bale wagon, of the single bale unloading type, having a load carrying bed overlying a chassis structure and including an unloading table pivotally mounted adjacent one end of said load bed. The load bed is provided with a rolling rack adapted to move fore-and-aft towards said unloading table such that a tier at a time is pushed from said load bed onto said unloading table where the tier is unloaded from the bale wagon, one bale at a time. For powering the unloading table a hydraulic cylinder is provided and controlled by a control valve that is operative to station the unloading table at any one of an infinite number of unloading positions adjacent the end of the load bed, thereby allowing the unloading table to be adjustably positioned relative to the particular ground elevation on which the bale wagon is disposed. Also, during the single bale unloading operation, a metering device is employed in conjunction with the unloading cylinder and is controlled during the single bale unloading operation to raise the unloading table from its particular selected unloading position to a tier receiving position closely adjacent the end of the stack disposed on the load bed, such that the tier being pushed from the load bed onto the unloading table falls only a relatively short distance uncontrolled, thereby avoiding the situation where the bales tend to spill out from the tier in those cases where the tier has to fall from the load bed all the way down to where the unloading table assumes the unloading position.

Abstract: A single bale unloading control system for controlling a plurality of bale separating hooks associated with an unloading table of a single bale unloading bale wagon. The single bale unloading control system of the present invention comprises a hydraulic cylinder operatively connected to a rockshaft transversely journalled on the underside of the unloading table, the rockshaft having secured thereto in lateral spaced apart relationship the bale separating hooks which are aligned to move through openings formed in the unloading table. The unloading table is further provided with a transverse cross conveyor that is adapted to convey a single separated layer of a tier from the unloading table. The hydraulic cylinder used for actuating the bale separating hooks is controlled by a control valve that is actuated by a connecting linkage that is responsive to the movement of the cross conveyor.

Abstract: A bale wagon which unloads bales one at a time. The wagon is provided with a bale pick-up, a bale tier former, and a load rack which receives the tiers of bales from the bale tier former. A cross conveyor is mounted on the bale tier former, and when discharging the bales are dropped a tier at a time from the load rack onto the bale tier former, the lowest layer of bales on the tier being engaged by the cross conveyor and discharged, while the layer next above the lowest layer is held from interference with the lowest layer.
