Abstract: Systems and methods are described to determine relationships between one or more components of an isolated execution environment system based on data obtained from a data intake and query system. Based on the determined relationships, an interactive visualization is generated that indicates the hierarchical relationship of the components. In some cases, to illustrate the relationship between components of the isolated execution environment system, the visualization can include one or more display objects displayed in a subordinate or superior relationship to other display objects. In certain cases, based on an interaction with a display object, the system can generate a query and/or display additional information and/or visualizations based on the results of the query.

Abstract: An example method of entity lifecycle management in a service monitoring system includes: receiving, by a software application of a service monitoring system, a policy definition specifying an entity lifecycle management policy, wherein the entity lifecycle management policy defines management rules for a plurality of entities in the network environment, wherein each entity of the plurality of entities is represented by one of: a device, an application, a service, or a user account; identifying, by applying the entity lifecycle management policy to a plurality of active entities, one or more candidate entities for retirement; identifying, as retired entities, at least a subset of the one or more candidate entities; and excluding the retired entities from the plurality of active entities, thus preventing the retired entities from interacting with other components of the service monitoring system.

Abstract: A security and IT “essentials” application (or “app”) for a data intake and query system are described, where the essentials apps provide functionality that generally make security and IT easier for users. Four categories of functionality are provided by the essentials apps including: (1) finding content, (2) learning how a data intake and query system security app works, (3) improving production and deploying the security tools successfully, and (4) measuring users' success. The described security and IT essentials apps help users better understand where to begin with using a data intake and query system, enable users to see a data intake and query system in action, and provides in-product help and guidance, thereby enabling users to more readily obtain insights into their own IT environments and to enable operational and security improvements in those environments.
