Disclosed is a display device that can uniformly transmit light emitted from a light source to the entire display panel without using a light guide plate. The display device includes a display panel, a backlight assembly supplying light to the display panel, and a lower cover receiving the backlight assembly. The backlight assembly includes a light source, a circuit board mounted with the light source, and a reflection cover coupled to the circuit board to reflect light emitted from the light source and formed of a bendable plate type member.

The display area includes: a pixel defining layer defining an opening that overlaps an anode, a cathode covering the pixel defining layer, an encapsulation layer located on a top of the cathode, a color filter positioned on the encapsulation layer and overlapping the opening of the pixel defining layer. The color filter and the pixel defining layer each have an additional opening corresponding to the optical sensor area, and the additional opening of the color filter is narrower than the additional opening of the pixel defining layer, so that the pixel defining layer is obscured by the color filter in the optical sensor area.
