The present invention relates to an electronic device and method for controlling a display by eye tracking. The method for controlling a display by eye tracking according to the present invention may comprise the steps of: tracking of line of sight of eyes; displaying, on a screen, a user interface for controlling the screen using the tracked line of sight; and executing a function selected in response to a selection of any menu item of the user interface by the tracked line of sight.

A portable terminal, a hearing aid, and a method of indicating the position of a sound source in the portable terminal are provided. The method includes receiving sound signals of a plurality of sound sources, determining respective distances between the plurality of sound sources and the portable terminal, and respective directions of the plurality of sound sources from the portable terminal, based on the received sound signals of the plurality of sound sources, determining positions of the plurality of sound sources on the touch screen based on the determined distances and directions of the plurality of sound sources, and displaying the determined positions of the plurality of sound sources on the touch screen.

An electronic device is disclosed and includes a housing; a display that is exposed through one surface of the housing; a light emitting unit that is disposed on at least a part of a rear surface of the display and includes at least one light source for outputting light of at least one wavelength band; a light receiving unit that includes at least one area for receiving light of the at least one wavelength band; a light blocking element for blocking light, that is output from the at least one light source, from entering a switch for turning on/off at least one pixel of the display; a processor electrically connected with the display, the light emitting unit, and the light receiving unit; and a memory electrically connected with the processor, in which the memory includes instructions that cause, when executed, the processor to output light through the at least one light source in a state where one or more pixels included in a specific area of the display, which includes an area covering the at least one light source, are turned off or displayed in a specific color.

A method for controlling a mobile terminal is provided. The method includes receiving content data including video data; determining whether first caption data including a first language caption is included in the content data; determining, if the first caption data is included in the content data, whether a high-difficulty word is included in the first language caption; generating explanation data corresponding to the high-difficulty word if the high-difficulty word is included in the first language caption; and converting the first caption data into second caption data by adding the explanation data to the first caption data.

An operation method and an electronic device are provided. A phone call is established while a display of the electronic device is activated. A proximity sensor of the electronic device is turned on. A supply of power to the proximity sensor is controlled to emit light through a plurality of pixels in a portion of the display corresponding to a position of the proximity sensor and the light emitted by the proximity sensor and reflected by an object is received to identify a distance between the electronic device and the object, if the plurality of the pixels in the position corresponding to the proximity sensor are deactivated during the phone call. The supply of power to the proximity sensor is blocked if the plurality of pixels in the portion of the display corresponding to the proximity sensor are activated during the phone call.

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide an electronic device of a metal member and a method therefor. The electronic device includes: a memory; an abnormality detection circuit; and a processor functionally connected with the memory or the abnormality detection circuit, wherein the processor is configured to detect whether there is an abnormality in an electric shock prevention circuit or whether a leakage path is formed from a ground of the electronic device to the metal member by using the abnormality detection circuit, and to control charging a battery of the electronic device according to whether there is the abnormality in the electric shock prevention circuit or whether the leakage path is formed. Other embodiments are possible.

A method and a mobile terminal for controlling the icons of the mobile terminal are provided. The method includes displaying at least one icon on a widget screen corresponding with a function for changing the size of the icon displayed on a touch screen; receiving a selection of an icon to which the function is to be applied; activating an attribute of the selected icon; and adjusting, if a side of the selected icon is dragged on the widget screen, a size of the selected icon according to a direction of the drag.
