Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure relate to a separator for a rechargeable lithium battery, and a rechargeable lithium battery including the separator. The separator for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a porous substrate, and a coating layer located on at least one surface of the porous substrate. The coating layer includes a cross-linked product of a composition containing a binder and a cross-linking agent and a filler, the binder includes a (meth)acryl-based binder containing a first structural unit derived from (meth)acrylamide, and a second structural unit including at least one of a structural unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid, (meth)acrylate, and a structural unit derived from (meth)acrylamido sulfonic acid. The cross-linking agent includes an aziridine-based cross-linking agent in an amount ranging from about 5 wt % to about 50 wt % with respect to the (meth)acryl-based binder, and the filler has a particle diameter D100 of about 0.7 μm or less.
